During the big wylkcrstal fire attack (the arena-wide fire one), just go to the back of the arena exactly opposite zoh shia, youre (mostly) safe there. Still have to watch for falling flaming rocks though. During the medium fire attack, safe spot is right behind his tail, if you cant get far away enough in time. During most other attacks, you can either dodge directly underneath him to get out of the damage, or backward/sideways to get out of the blast range. For the thunder attacks, treat it like alatreon. The tell isn't as obvious, but once you get the timing down, its easy to get out of. If you use a weapon with a shield, just face tank everything, as long as your armor is reinforced. If not, you can still face tank most things, but repeated fire bomb attacks will eventually get you.

If youre running a build thats all out attack, try putting on some defensive skills (particularly, evade window). Your hunt will take a couple minutes longer, but you'll have more survivability, and you'll learn the fight quicker.

and people said the game was too easy lol
Very good monster for guard up if you use shield weapons.

You can also use the elemental slinger ammo and break the giant will crystals, it stops the flames from spreading off them

Also, run a little fire resistance, most of the biggest hits are fire

Turns out the big super attack has an intended method: shoot the big crystal spikes that pop up with elemental pods. They break, which reduces the danger area for the massive explosion of fire. You can also blow up the smaller crystals the same way to deal some extra damage. He's pretty tanky though, has some good damage. Finally, I feel like I'm playing something closer to the Monster Hunter I know.
Dragon Insect Glaive... that's it
You gotta hit him but also don't get hit by him. That second part is critical.

The difficulty of the fight is what I mean. Like actually having to pay attention to how the monster does things and I can actually fail the hunt, unlike every single other fight in the story up to that point. I had only carted once. ONCE. This particular fight? I actually had three failed attempts with different groups of people. It made me go and... equip fire resistance gems. Yeah. For once, I actually had to pay attention to my defense.

Also, I've played every single Monster Hunter generation except first. Finished Freedom Unite, hunted most of the monsters in Generations until my 3DS gave out on me. My first Monster Hunter was Tri. To say I'm a veteran Monster Hunter is pretty accurate at this point. I've played other entries in the series, too, but those are some of my highlights. I think I know what I'm talking about with this actually starting to feel like Monster Hunter again.

I didn't say it felt exactly like oldschool Monster Hunter. Just that it's starting to get there. Slowly.

'MMO' mechanics make for good difficulty since it's not braindead spongy number go up.

Adjust and /or adapt or get filtered

Mate...it WAS too easy. Use your brain before you write sentences. It is now NOT too easy, but it certainly was.

All i can say is , FINALLY, because this game was MH babymode for way too long. NOW, its shaping up.

Shoot the crystal on the ground or it will amplify his attack.

People got so used to hide behind cover the devs just troll us, instead of hiding behind it we actually need to destroy it.

Yep. Actually having to engage with the game's systems, who would have thought? I'm glad to see that, just like with Rise, Capcom knows how to make the game difficult and satisfying when they want to. Makes me excited for AT Rey Dau lol

Have a hunting horn guy and\or mushroom widespread guy and hack away until dead.
If you get the bad rng and he wants you dead at all costs, block.
gg

Killed him 3 times and got 3 gems, i can't complain.
