Game no longer runs on Linux (fix found?)
FIX HERE: https://www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterwilds/mods/1539?tab=description

Yes, another Linux post about the new update, but I have something new to add.

After much trouble trying to launch the game, I managed to get in after 40 minutes of clicking the "Waiting for program..." button.

The game "runs" completely without textures(?), lighting, nor physics. Grass clips and jitters WILDLY at low FPS, models warp and phase like a that old "hall of mirrors" effect when you NoClip in old DOOM engine games (this is significantly less apparent).

Proof:

System Specs:
Ryzen 7 5800X
32GB DDR4
Radeon RX 7800XT

Tell me what ya'll think. FFS man

Oh yes, we must resort to changing our game files to fix Capcom's mess, after Capcom has apparently been so outwardly hostile to mods. Love this.

Got it to work with above mod in the game prefix system32 and putting the other 1.2.3 dstorage on nexus in game dir

This fix also worked for me. I'll add a bit for someone who has never done this before.

Download the 2 files and extract.
In the Steam client, go to the game and click the Cog button -- Manage -- Browse Local Files.
In this file location, replace the 2 files "dstorage.dll" and "dstoragecore.dll" with the versions you just downloaded.
Now the game will launch.
This got things working again on my Steam Deck. Thanks.

Capcom never intended this game to run on Linux. So your comment is really weird

I was going to sit an explain to you why what you just said is the most inane and pointless thing anyone has personally said to me, but that would require you to A) give a ♥♥♥♥ and B) for me to give a ♥♥♥♥.

So. "Steam developed Proton specifically to run games on Linux, so your comment is really weird."

How much fps do you have after update?

replacing the files worked.
I've been trying to play it on Linux Mint since release version 1.010.

A new tap window appears, after half a minute a black screen appears for a second, it switches back to this window, and the entire system freezes.

You can't tell me I have to download a mod from Nexusmods to get a fix.

The Proton hotfix worked so well the whole time; I have over 100 hours of gameplay.

I don't feel like registering somewhere to get a purchased game running again.

Here's an actually useful link to the files.

I have to say on BazziteOS and ProtonGe9-27 there is no fix needed. Just for info.

You can also download the DirectStorage downgrade from Microsoft's NuGet to put in the game folder. (At least I hope its official.) So far have had no issues, will continue monitoring.
