Fix it so it actually does what it's supposed to do, Direct storage is supposed to be a game changer

Seems like you're using DirectStorage as a buzzword without knowing what it does.
i dont think direct storage has been a game changer in any prev titles, iirc the unknown 9 or some other game had really fast loading screens but no fps increase from it

edit: not unknown 9 its forspoken lol

Do you know what DirectStorage actually is and what it's supposed to do?
Direct storage, isn't supposed to increase fps but its supposed to reduce the load on the cpu by streaming textures directly from your nvme ssd to the gpu. it's currently not doing that do that

What an douchebag comment.
The load on the CPU is coming from their anti tamper, if you use RE framework to turn it off, you won't get horrible CPU loads. The direct storage update will likely fix (Though not guaranteed.) the texture pop in on fast travels, outside of that, there was 0 problems with the texture streaming.
It does. Without Direct Storage, the assets are loaded in via the CPU. This causes them to load in very slow and leads to the PSOne graphics.

If you have Direct Storage, they load in a couple seconds.

You're missing the point, Directstorage when utilizing the GPU and not the cpu greatly reduces CPU load, its a fact. yes the DRM crap they run doesn't help but is a separate issue

Their current implementation of directstorage is using the CPU and not the GPU

You can try both with RE frame work. The Direct storage made little impact, the anti tamper made a HUGE one. Direct storage got updated, but it isn't going to make a huge difference, as the problem was primarily on quick loads via wing travel.
i hate to tell you people, but direct storage has not been working correctly in MH Wilds.
not only did it not work correctly, but it tried to stream in and out too much data in too little time, even with low res assets.
if you look at AC Shadows, that game does streaming and loading of textures correctly.

They updated from verison 1.2.2 to 1.2.3 but it still isnt utlizing the gpu
I had REframe work before the patch and I manually updated the directstorage, and MH still isn't utlizing it properly.

I think it's just the wrong entry

I was having asset streaming issues but I went into bios, updated it, enabled Direct Storage, and all my problems went away.

The game still says its on CPU, but it's clearly not now.

my bios is up to date, my SSD drives are both gen4 nvme drives, RTX 4090, Ryzen 7800X3D and 32GB of dual channel RAM at 6000 Mhz.
the game stutters and freezes when i only as much as turn the camera for a little bit to either side.
MH WIlds is a terrible game and should not even be sold at this point.
