It's a fantastic game, just not made for you. All the older MH games are still freely available to play to this day I encourage you to try them out since every game is fundamentally different from each other.
For me personally I deeply, deeply love this game. Although, do not force yourself to enjoy something just because you spent money on it, go out and enjoy other things! Whatever that may be!
I was thinking the same. Could be a permanent burnout though.
It's weird to see people say that they've reached HR 100+, or put 60+ hours into a game and say that they don't like it. Maybe now that you're burnt out you don't like it anymore, but you surely you must have been enjoying it at least somewhat if you've stuck with it for that long right?
i disagree that weapon balance doesn't matter, especially for monster hunter if you play multiple weapons, my main weapons are the switch axe, charge blade and gunlance, gl and cb are insane in this game while the swax is straight up bad if you don't spam the full release slash move.... swapping between them and the contrast is insane, i demolish stuff with cb/gl while i'm stuck doing hunting horn numbers with the swax unless i spam frs, and it's not fun at all
i'm glad you're enjoying wilds and i'm kinda jealous tbh, the game might not be for me after all.
the athmosphere is really nice if you sit at the oasis in the dessert to fish a bit and the ceratonoth walk along with some singing birds on the back
then the chatacabra comes in slowly and takes a lengthy bath, and suddenly the weather changes and ray comes in cause hes hungry
the details are just awsome, like the harpios diving into the mids of a fish circle to catch one of them
then ill go back to camp and start a mission, the combat feels fluid and all the new combos would feel really satisfying ..... if the monsters would actually be dangerous
dont get me wrong, the monster moves look nice and fluid too, they behave more like animals, get exhaustet and you can see in the movement if they are wounded
but they forgot to apply the same for the hunter
he feels like a god jumping from left to right without problems, even if hes carrying a 4m big and weighty weapon
he just slices right through the monsters as if they would be made of paper
then he just jumps onto the 5m tall monster like nothing and smashes it to the ground
and if, for some reason, something is going wrong, you palico or your seikret save the day like its the easiest in the world,
most of the time you dont even need the supplys your carrying with you, and i ask myself "why the f do i even bother to gather and store 100s of items"
5 minutes later the "fight" is over and it felt more like a pointless slaughter
iam playing mh since 20 years, i love this game but the main part, the combat, how fancy he looks, feels just bland, boring and pointless in wilds cause you are the almost invincible hero vs monsters with way too much weaknesses
and it gets worse in mp, it feels like an arcade hack and slash party game not like monster hunter
i hope capcom can fix it, they did well in the past and i can see the vision but for now iam back to get eaten by beasts in world :)
It all comes together to make this the least engaging entry in the entire franchise. It really doesn't help that it's also one of the lightest on content, and that most of the armor is bad.
Bumping difficulty by a lot can save it, but in order to do that I really do think the Wound system needs a major rework. It is an incredibly ill-considered system.
I think lack of Elder Dragons is also hindering the game.
