"Monster Hunter Wilds has sold over 10 million units in its first month of release, setting a first-month sales record for Capcom " https://www.capcom.co.jp/ir/english/news/html/e250331.html
I'm sorrry but MegaMan isn't gonna make investors happy. Neither are the other niche games. Monster Hunter has become Mainstream along with Resident Evil. Those are the cash cows who deserve the attention. The rest will get a bone thrown their way here or there. Investors want money and making peanuts doesn't make them want to invest more.
Have you seen the first Monster Hunter?
For a 2004 game, that was MASSIVE.
It probably had a much bigger team and budget than any MegaMan game ever to this day, yet at the time that was just an experiment for them. It was not the cash cow you know it for because it did not exist prior. I don't think there were a lot of investors being happy about this unknown game back then.
In 2019, they said that the next MegaMan game had already been decided on, and then there were some leaks revealing MegaMan Taisen, so something was definitely in the works, and then abandoned as we never heard of it again.
They'd have to kinda reinvent it as a soulslike Megaman sidescroller.
(I mean... Shovel Knight shows you that these games can be successful)
or bring back Megaman Legends and make it actually good.
i rmb playing megaman zero 2 and i got my butt whooped
And why does that have to do anything with Monster Hunter?
By your logic - it means that they should have had no effort to spare to anything, yet in the given timeframe they have shipped quite a few games.
MegaMan is somehow special that makes its existence incompatible with Monster Hunter? Is it truly so unbelievable to make an assumption that whatever MegaMan game they developed was dropped because it simply was not good enough?
I left for 20 days and you are still here. What in the...
Also anyone that doesn't like Megaman can't be trusted.
Also I dont need to like mega man. I like real games like Contra.
Yes, MegaMan 11, a game that was made with dozens of dollars for both the development and marketing combined :)
It is a miracle it sold 1 million, let alone 2.
More like 24/7 on this forum.
You already forgot that I own the game on PS5. Short memory?
It's called Megaman outside of Japan.
And as someone who her first console game ever was Megaman 2, it saddens me that Capcom ignores our jump and shoot man.
The last time he ever got any real attention, was when he was added to Smash.
Seems to have everything to do when the company that's supposed to make MegaMan is no longer making MegaMan but their main thing is now Monster Hunter... What's so hard to understand? I mean of course I get that MH makes more money, but at this point this is just irresponsible. Are we never going to see MegaMan games again if MH just keeps making millions of sales? Can't we have a transfer of IP's to another company since they don't care anymore?
I swear, I thought MegaMan was "back". I bought Smash 4 3DS on day 1, and then on WiiU again day 1. I was thrilled by how great this version of MegaMan was, it's everything I saw him as on the NES. I never saw other cameos feel this real.
Today it would hurt me if I play Smash knowing that this was the extent of it, instead of an epic rebirth that would lead to awesome games.
Not saying that to be snarky either, very first game I ever beat as a child was MM2,. I've gone on to beat most everything in the franchise at some point or another in my life, but I gave up on MM ever making a return to form years ago same as I did with konami and the castlevania franchise. It's just one of the "joys" of growing older + capitalism, everything from your childhood will get sold out or ruined as the years go by.
