Crowns explanation...
Can someone please explain me what those are, what they are for and how to earn them? Just hunt the biggest monster and kill it or capture it? And what happens if you collect them all? I'm curious cause every one lately just talks about crowns and I'm like "what"?

Crowns are basically the absolute biggest, or absolute smallest a monster can be and you can kill or capture it to earn a lil sticker in your field guide for whatever monster you kill

This is entirely a achievement hunter thing, so dw about to too much
So is just a size thing, not need crazy complex things to do in order to gain them correct? just get the biggest guy and that's it correct? Thanks in advance.

Yup! There's ways to farm em, but that's it!
You know Pokemon? It's like Shiny Hunting in that, except you can't keep them or do anything fun other than know you've defeated the biggest/smallest of that creature there is.

It's like people who pin butterflies to pages in a book. It's just a hobby within the game for the people who like to open their book and see a bunch of completed crowns.

Big crowns come in 2 flavours. Silver and Gold.
The silvers are pointless.
The gold big crowns are the highest possible size range for a monster. You can still find a bigger monster up to an unknown maximum* even if you already found a big gold crown before.

Tiny crowns come only in gold.
Its the smallest size range for a monster. You can still find a smaller monster up to an unknown minimum* even if you already found a tiny gold crown before.

The way to "farm" these is by monitoring the hollow. Any monster spawning there can be rerolled for a different size if you fast travel from suja to the hollow and then checking the monster with your binoculars.
You can do this as long as the monster stays in the hollow.

This does not work for the apexes rey dau, uth duna and nu udra. You have to reroll their size by resting at a camp, any camp.
You just have to make sure that its a time where they spawn on their respective maps which is usually the inclemency.

The guardian beasts work the same way. You have to rest at a tent to make them spawn in different sizes but they spawn whenever and not only during the inclemency.

Monsters that dont have a size range at all and therefor no crown are Jin dahaad, guardian arkveld and zho shia(for now).

Another thing to keep in mind is that tiny crowns seem to be much rarer than the big ones or at least it felt that way when i farmed for all crowns.

That is pretty much it. Happy hunting.
If i got something wrong then im sure someone will correct me. :D

*the maxi-/minimum values might have been data mined but i do not know them

//EDIT:

I forgot to mention that you can save any crowned monster as an investigation.
You can start a quest 3 times through saved investigations and the monster will always be the same size.
Useful if you want to trade for crowns or share them with friends.

You should however write down the monsters size so you dont forget because the investigation will not tell you before you start the quest and check the monster with binos.

Oh right.. what are the crowns. They are bragging rights and unlock 4 achievements if you collect them all.
