Each mod were tested 20 times:
Mod Option 1 - 20% crown size spawn / 80% normal size spawn:
16 normal monsters spawned:
4 crown monsters spawned:
- 2 small crown monsters
- 2 large crown monsters
Mod Option 2 - 50% crown size spawn / 50% normal size spawn:
11 normal monsters spawned:
9 crown monsters spawned:
- 7 small crown monsters
- 2 large crown monsters
Mode Option 3 - 75% crown size spawn / 25% normal size spawn:
5 normal monsters spawned:
15 crown monsters spawned:
- 3 small crown monsters
- 12 large crown monsters
Conclusion:
Small crown spawn rate is lower in total, especially in option 3 when the crown size monsters spawn rate is highest. Note: It's only 20 test run each so one can argue that it's not enough data to draw conclusion, but if you look at the totality it's 60 runs in total, only 12 out of 60 runs were small crown.
I have about 75% of small and large crowns and I would say I almost ALWAYS get the small crown last on each monster.
Hmm interesting, its kinda hard to determine how low the incidence is exactly from this data. I mean assuming the mod doesn't affect the types of crowns that spawn, your data would suggest the spawnrate for small crowns is around 42%, which is less likely than large crowns but not by much, of course a sample size of 28 crowns is very small so I could see the true rate being much lower.
I guess for me its interesting that I've found around 10 ish large crowns but no small one, so if I estimate the spawnrate at 42%, the chance of that happening is around 0.37%, which I guess is not impossible but does feel kinda unlikely. Something like 20% spawnrate for small crowns sounds more reasonable for me as that would place the probability of seeing no small crowns 10 times in a row at around 10% but this is purely speculation. Well, I guess I just gotta keep trying if I want those crowns lol, I knew it was gonna be a grind but it's starting to sound like its kinda brutal (and funnily enough I heard that they made crown hunting way easier in wilds, although I am not sure if that was only referring to some tech you can use to reroll monster size)
The tech most people use is the "rest" in tent and entering wounded hallow then exit to a different locale then re-enter wounded hallow to refresh monsters in that arena.
Two ways to do ^ "Rest" method above:
Method 1:
"Rest" in tent, go around the world map, use binoculars to check on monsters if they're crown size or not. If they aren't you can "rest" at tent again.
Method 2:
"Rest" in tent, go around the world map, use binoculars to check on monsters. If they're crown size or not, you can leave to menu title and return, that'll refresh the monsters size. This will not change the monsters that already spawned, this will refresh their size only.
In short Method 1 is good for farming for a variety of monster with Large or miniature crown size. Method 2 is good for farming a specific monster you with a specific crown size.
