Monster Hunter Wilds

Was excited for TU1 until I heard about…
…the Arena Ranking pendants. As far as I understand it there will be limited time event arena quests where you can earn pendants. One for participating and a rare one that is tied to your world rank.
I already hate that concept…
First of all the leaderboards will be filled with cheaters so you basically have no chance to get those pendants if you play legitimately.
And even if they somehow manage to sort out all of the cheaters why make it time limited? If you don‘t have the time to perfectly learn all the weapons in a week or so you also won‘t stand a chance.
I know it‘s a small thing but it really bothers me how they have designed it.
A much better system would be that you have kill the monster in a certain amount of time to get the pendant and not make it time limited.

Agreed. Why make it so live service. Especially in a game where Capcom is too cheap to have server side control and let people cheat so easily with mods.

Edit: The more I think about the more disgusting it is. They want the financial benefit to having a live service game but not the financial responsibility. It's pathetic that anyone would defend this.

Online Leaderboards, are likely not going to be taken into account on how you obtain these Pendants.

It'll most likely be like various other MH games when it comes to making the armor sets, and such, where it's only determined on your personal ranking, NOT the online ranking.

As such you will be expected to S rank all the Arena hunts by yourself, or with others, which has usually never been too difficult to due in the first place.

But yes, to those who actually want a fair chance at bragging rights for the online ranking, I'm afraid you're all screwed.

Even if you are able to get pendants/limited stuff legit, things like Item Editor exist, where you can literally just add the items into your storage/inventory without even touching the Arena stuff, which you'd think if people were going to cheat to get those items anyways, why bother cheating, and messing with the leaderboards, and to answer that; Because they can. And so they will.

Yeah... It's pretty pointless. I'll participate, but that's it. No point in doing anything else since we're gonna compete with cheaters that will one shot the monsters.
They added the report function against players, so I suppose they plan on using that in some belief that it will EVER be possible to have that do anything.

I hate FOMO as it is, but the top leaderboard pendants is just a terrible idea from the start.

As far as I'm aware, they don't bother to notify you if action is actually taken on a report, unlike basically every multiplayer game now-a-days.

I'm recalling the Biohazard/Resident Evil 5 leaderboards, which are purely comprised of people with 0 second campaign finishes and scores above the mathematically possible maximum for Mercenaries.

I have always hated leaderboards in general themselves, personally... Sadly they are commonplace and seem to be popular with a lot of people, especially the younger audiences from my experience.

Rewards for being on a leaderboard are sadly also commonplace... So this is absolutely nothing new and has been an issue in gaming for over 10 years.

Everyone complaining about lack of difficulty, leaving when difficulty arrives. ABSOLUTE CINEMA!

What I'm worried about is whether the system automatically processes reports and banning. Imagine if people started mass-reporting you or they abuse the system just for fun / trolling because they're jealous of your clear time, and suddenly, you as legitimate speedrunner get banned.

Banning people should be done manually by the employee of whoever handle the server of mh wilds

Doubt it'll work like that. Will probably just draw attention to that player and have them check some sort of data to figure out whether that player was cheating or not.
is lame content , capcom is really lazy now thanks to the tourist hunter
I find it quite weird since yes, you dont even need mods to multiple your damage by 10000x and insta kill a monster.

If they block mods on the other hand because of this, then they shot themselves in the foot and will also lose players lols.

Well, online players anyway. Getting banned doesn't prevent you from playing the game, you just can't play online at all or participate in any event quests and such.
I also find the idea less then ideal but Ima be honest, saying its "live servicey" is a disservice to the game.

Look, the way I see it, is you participate for the rewards and laugh at anyone using the leaderboard cosmetics as cheaters and report them to capcom. Sure, they look cool but its all but guaranteed to be achieved through cheating so anybody thats using it to show off is almost certainly a hacker.

Im also not so entitled that I care about useless cosmetics that, generally speaking while COOL as an individual item, look horrid on your weapons. Nor do I think that everything in a game should be accessible for me. I should be able to try for a thing, but its not my right that I get the rewards that I cannot achieve.

And even if it WERE cheater free, I highly doubt anybody in the forum is going to be in the top 100 regardless. Just accept it as something only cheaters, speed runners and monster hunting gods are going to be getting and move on, and use the system to get cheaters banned from online play.

Competing against cheaters and locking 99% of the Playerbase out of Content has nothing to do with difficulty. Rage bait comment.
