What’s the point past Rank 100 ?
Does anything unlock or increase once you pass rank 100? What’s the point of increasing your rank apart from bragging writes?

I just reached 100 but feel like I just rushed through my first play through so I’m thinking of starting a new character.

Good idea. Playing the game with different language voice also helps.

Fun collecting all armour , playing all weapons, unlocking more weapons, playing all monsters with every weapon successfully - and in style. :mhwilds_OK:
For most people, it seems like crown hunting. But with every monster hunter, the endgame is always fashion.

Bragging rights, at least used to be. In World, you could see the hunter rank of party members, so when a 999HR player joins, you know that monster is in for a beating. But now hunter ranks are hidden so what's the point. Unless I missed some setting that lets you see them again ?
I forget when, but you can make two cost Jewels at the melder eventually. Aside from that, there is no reason.

Now you can continue to git gud.

afaik there is no unlocks or rewards after 100, you get extra melding options at 100 but after that it's just to see the number go up. Some older MH titles would have quest unlock at high HR levels, up to like 140 or even higher, but ever since they started splitting Hunter rank and Master/Grank levels it seems nothing really is unlocked after 100.

Do you need a "point" to play a video game ?
I log on pointlessly everyday with no objectives just to have fun playing the game.

Like another person said, monhun will start feeling easy to you and you will reach the end of content on all monhuns after playing a while, even those with G-Rank, at that point, instead of progressing vertically, you open up horizontally, learn new weapon styles, do better TTK, practice to do more insane ♥♥♥♥ like offsets and such.

To look down on players lower in rank then you. Just like in past games.

Hunting Monsters.
It's fun.

I believe, and I've more than 3k hours on World and planning to reach the same in Wilds, that this kind of approach is… not exactly wrong, but pointless to Monster Hunter.
The idea that you’ve “finished” the MH adventure once you’ve all the achievements unlocked, or reached level 999… sour the adventure.
The franchise is made of immaterial moments: mastering a weapon, finally fishing the last gajau you need to craft those pants, learning how to counter reliably, hunting with friends, carting…
Rushing through achievements, levels and uninstalling to move to the next game, desperately searching for an endorphine rush… I don’t think it’s not how you will scratch that itch here (and the game itself is all but cheap).
What is the point past rank 100? There is none.
Just as there is no point in playing MH if the only thing you work for is unlocking all achievements.

But I admit this is a niche opinion. And it is also true that Wilds has problems (the state of its porting on pc as the most glaring one, probably).
All in all, sending a monster back with a perfectly timed counter with an IG, is what makes Wilds worth it. For me at least (for now: there are tons of weapons to master still XD).
Levels are… just silly numbers on a card I’m earning in the meantime.

Ok awesome thanks for all the replies guess I’m gonna start a new character then :steamhappy: I just feel like I rushed through and at some point started hating how my character looked and stuck a helmet on him so in my next play through I’m gonna take time and customise my character more and I’m gonna try some other weapon load outs and pay closer attention to the story.
Just wasn’t sure if maybe something unlocked at a higher rank like maybe some special weapons upgrades or something .
Iv completed a lot of achievements I can without going online but for some reason the killing 50 apex achievements not unlocking but I can figure that out in my next run.
You take a break and play other games lol

Other than that, the point is "the fun of it"
