The summer update teaser did have a diving under water noise that played and an underwater background so it's possible but I don't think it'll be likely due to the huge effort it would take to implement in terms of weapon move sets like Scipo mentioned and map design additions.
Here's hoping though! The next update looks amazing as is and I can't wait to fight my OG flagship monster
Yess! Man imagine if Cha-Cha & Kayamba appeared to help you fight him lol
Cha-Cha was basically the palico of tri and Kaymba was another one you could get in tri ultimate :) Similar to the Gajalaka tribe you could befriend in the world lava region - you could equip them with different masks for unique abilities

Would be interesting if capcom brings back underwater combat as a wilds DLC, with a more modern approach and fast movement. Could be a cool future DLC idea, with maybe the different areas getting flooded do to weather changes etc.
Divergence is fine, i only think it's silly when people start fighting for it. Now, imagine if they did the same with underwater combat, personally i never played MH before world so i have no idea what it was, but if they could get it right it'd open some interesting possibilities!
