Uploading Design character preset question

Is the only way to upload a design is to have a character/palico edit voucher? I'm trying to share my design, but can't seem to due to: "Cannot do this because no character saved data exists.". How do I go about uploading a design? I may be doing something wrong.

The designs are bound to your profile ID savegame. If you got the game brandnew and have not make a game save ever, you cannot save presets.

Otherwise you can always get to the character edit screen and save/load presets later on. You do not need a voucher to access that screen. Only if you make significant changes.

Changing your hairstyle e.g. is free and does not require nor consume a voucher.

I figured it out I had to download the dlc trial voucher
