First Time Gore Magala Prep?
I triple-carted, even though I got its tail cut off. I got Lv. 2 Earplugs on my armor, but it didn't seem to help much. What am I missing? I main DBs btw.

Respect the monster. Pay attention to cues, and your surroundings and don't get greedy. Getting caught between Gore and a wall is almost certain death. If you get knocked over, CALL YOUR SEIKRET. Heal on your best boi, run laps. You are far less likely to die on your seikret while healing than you are when you are on the ground.

The optimal space to avoid its breath attacks is to the left or right of its head about 4 metres or so. Too much to the side or center and you will get it. They can also loop back around, so too far away can sneak a hit in as well. Skills like evade window are very comfy for this fight, but make sure your armour is maxed out as much as possible with armour spheres.

Use your radial menu for fast access to healing items. Optimal Healing and Optimal Status Recovery will use your items that best manages what your dealing with. Topping up is super important as well, you can soak a hit or two at full but one bad hit at half is a cart. With this in mind, 10 potions, 10 mega potions, 2 max potions, 1 ancient potion for a max of 23 heals is huge.

Dont forget, optimal dps is without defence but you cant dps if you are dead. Dont be afraid to pop in some defence or divine protection gems. And if you can, theres a meal ingredient that gives you extra defence when in the cold zone (And volcano, but less impotent).

Dragon element, Artian weapons with gems or skills that help make wounds or do more damage to the wounds. Gore was always an easy fight.

Just take your time, watch how it moves and fights to time your attacks. Nulberries for Frenzy, but it doesn't seem as dangerous when it was first introduced, really watered down if anything.

frenzies only dangerous if you cant attack fast enough to burn it out of your system before you take a big hit. It still turns off natural healing and decreases defence.

i can't remember how gore magala works because i beat it on first try with insect glaive. having my palico and that hunter guild CEO dude with long hair and lance probably helped. Tempered Gore magala on the other hand out of 4 or 5 fights only 1 succeeds sometimes due to me carting (mainly due to lack of potions) and sometimes other players carted. Fighting it feels like RNG. i'm new to the series so i'm not good at learning a monster's patterns. I heard tempered gore is even less predictable than temepred arkveld is this true?

Well, this might push me to make a -more or less simple- "cheat sheet" for beginners...

Mind the moxie meal which gives you "one extra live".

Drink Dash Juice.

Unlock the unlockables via sidequests for the Palico Giant Vigorwasp skill.

Use traps generously, even restocking them.

Take your time.

If you master the DB dodge, Gore Magala is actually pretty harmless for DB users and Bow users.

P.S.: Remember - you can call NPCs for help - set Quest settings to support hunters, and when you set off an SOS the NPC hunters come for help.
You do not have to do it entirely on your own - but you also do not have to invite randoms to spoil your fun.

roll to the opposite side of whichever wing hes about to slam you down with, hindlegs are a bit safer but he can do a spin attack to get you away, so be ready for that. You need to play aggressive. His ranged attacks are tricky and just take practice to figure out how to evade them, he has one ranged attack where the shot starts center but expands left and right to the monster so dont try to side roll it, it'll hit you.

Be patient in enraged because he can stunlock you to death very easily, wait for moves like his double slam down for a big opening on his head or his ranged attacks, he will combo into ranged attacks from his faster attacks here and this is where i find most people cart.

Oh yeah, use traps, they help a lot with him. Pack a couple tools and mats to make two extras if you need to.

gore has high dmg and agility in exchange for his smaller health pool. use a lot of traps (flashbomb don't work). also try to drag him to fight other monsters and make use of environmental traps. (that area where you can drag a floating rock to smack him). bring paralyze and sleep+bomb to get a breather (either your own weapon or your cat's)

People here recommend artian and other endgame stuff for a story monster :cozybethesda: GG

1. Watch your Healthbar, The grey Flag is the HP threshold you need to be under to trigger the Group Skill "Adrenaline". Which will boost your attack.

The orange Flag is for the food skill "Moxie". If you are above this HP threshold, any attack that would cart you will instead bring you down to 1HP (once per quest).

2. Use farcaster, Mantel to get out of the danger zone

3. Flash or trap the monster if it goes enrage

4. Use antidotes

5. Bring your biggest heal items, restock if you need to

6. Don’t be greedy

According to anonymous internet posters game is too easy and no prep is required.
And if you can't trust anonymous internet posters than who can you trust?

Gunlance or Lance = GG ez no re
Seriously, Gore gets shafted hard by them. You take basically no damage and don't get any frenzy buildup when blocking
