Although keep in mind the previous games listed didn't have everything at launch either. It took a while for them to become what they are today, and they're both great games in their own respects. This game needs some polish and bit more content and it'll be right up there with the others.
It's still a fun game, at least for me, but I can understand why people are longing for more out of this game.
High Rank shows that the game has potential though. So, it depends what they do with Title Updates and the expansion in like a year.
Well other than from the old MH Games I already played World and Rise and quiet don‘t understand the rating for this one here
Me and my wife have strong enough PCs to run it, but she wasn't able to play the first 2 weeks, as it would crash on start with her AMD graphics card (a common problem) that Capcom just kinda refused to acknowledge, and released an optional update that fixed it, but it's still kinda ridiculous for a 70$ preorder
The story is bad, even for monster hunter, but whatever, we aren't really here for the story, but the gameplay itself is lacking in some regards
( they gutted a lot of the customization from HBG, and I took it personally ;D)
The majority aren't upset about the gameplay, except for maybe saying it's too easy or not enough content. They're just upset they can't play the game or when they do play the game it has horrible performance.
If we're just talking about gameplay and content, I'd give it a solid 8 myself. Still has room to improve, but I've enjoyed the game so far. Once it gets more updates that number will change.
It lacks content and the difficulty is extremely easy; you can barely tell you're fighting tempered monsters compared to MHWorld and you have the best endgame gear with next to no effort.
The PC port is atrocious- probably one of the worst ports in history without exaggeration; it doesn't function like you have a mouse and even the map uses a fixed crosshair overlay since it doesn't let you use your mouse icon to click anything. Optimization is terrible to where mid level PCs struggle running at acceptable framerates; I play on 4k 4090 and couldn't imagine doing so on anything less than that- this game's graphics don't justify the processing power requirement.
The UI is one of if not the worst in history without exaggeration- extremely bloated menu system with wasteful popups, prompts and non-intuitive submenus galore.
My general take on MHWilds is that they did less than bare minimum innovation with it and dumbed the game down. MHWilds has had 70% player dropoff in 3 weeks- compare that to helldivers 2 or even POE2 early access which only lost 30% players in the same span of time.
The performance is bad, yeah, but it has more issues than that. The story being both forced on you and garbage doesn't help, and the game being noticeably easy compared to previous entries is also a factor.
Some ranged weapons also got hammered, so if you were used to those, you were likely to give the game a worse score.
It also launched with very little content, even for this series, which doesn't exactly bring the score up.
It also removed a few good game mechanics from the past two entries, which disappointed some people.
IS IT BAD, THOUGH?
No, it's just subpar for the franchise. If you haven't already played World or Rise, I suggest playing those, but Wilds is still fun to play, just overpriced.
On it's own merits, I would give it a 7/10 (because the story did tick me off, and I can't just ignore it when the game is so EAGER for you to sit and listen to the NPCs). It's not the first game in the series, though, so I'm not grading it like that. I actually give it a 5/10, since it's serviceable, but definitely not worth playing unless you've already played every previous game and you have friends that want to play this one with you.
