Really don't like the monster near dead and runs away mechanic
Doing the Chapter 5 squid boss... he had a skull on him and he ran away for the 4th time... to be healed and lost his skull... Who thought this was fun?

wow man that sucks, sorry you had to actually hunt the monster
So kill it before it runs away...
wait, how long you wander around for it to heal that much to lose the skull state, 1 hour?
You can't be serious, that healing tick is very slow. try not fighting 2 other monsters before you go after it in the future.

Id like to know why flash pods dont stop a monster running away.
Like they only delay the running while the monster has the blind debuff, soon as it wears off the monster insta runs again.

I think the running mechanic is ok if it has a purpose.
Like maybe monster runs twice a fight, once to feed and once to sleep when near dead.
Or maybe it runs back to its nest where the environment silk help it in some way.
Just having it randomly book it to stand in an identical bit of forest doesnt do much.
Lure pods.
You don't even have to care that it does this anymore. In the older games you'd have to actually use your brain and follow it.

Just kill or trap it before it leaves if that's an issue for you?
so if you hunt an animal in real life do you expect it to accept its fate and lay right there on the spot for the taking or
no way this post is not a bait, its always been like that since forever.

Well, if someone is hunting an animal with a gunlance in real life, then there's not going to be much animal left after the first Wyvernfire blast, let alone a Wyrmstake drilling into its head and exploding.

"muh reality" arguments never work for a fantasy game.

It isn't meant to be fun, it's meant to increase metrics from back when the game was $15 a month to play online in japan.

you would very slowly walk behind it until it hit a load zone, go through the load zone, then wait at the next zone for the monster to load in, then follow it more.

it was terrible then, it's a bit better now, but still terrible.

the monster is programmed to run faster than your chicken or dog can take you at specific health breakpoints, then to run again at low health.

If you're a particularly attentive noticer, you will notice that the monster starts and ends in the same place, and follows the EXACT same circuit around the map each hunt.

it's REALLY off-putting and takes you out of the experience because of how "video gamey" it is.
