Great Sword feels the best it has ever been
I truly enjoy being able to combo the focus thing (r1) with charged slashes, and tilting the stick left/right with the r1 attack gives a second attack that hits multiple times. Of course, it definitely feels a bit OP especially when hitting wounds and doing the full 'drag the sword through the monster' attack for hundreds of damage but damn if it isn't fun.

I've never used the GS before. It's always been a little intimidating to me because it's so slow. I have a hard time with quicker weapons and mobility, lol. Making my character swing a lot slower seems like it'd be tough.

I'm thinking of using it when I create a new character. I like starting from scratch when I use a new weapon so I have a little bit of a cushion against weaker monsters to learn the weapon. Still not sure on using it, though.

no wonder. it is easier to use than ever and every bit of skill needed to be good with it got removed.

Don't be too hard on yourself friend. Try it out, yes it's slow but you'll never learn if you don't try right? It's satisfying to hit a big bonk

Along with the satisfaction of landing that perfect TCS.

This game series has never required 'skill' dude. Weird take.

Sounds like a personal problem. I'm having as much or more fun now than I have in any of the previous entries the past 20 years.
Mobile gamers will all agree. The skill of slow weapons was landing your shots by predicting where the part of the body will be when the attack lands. As is, its just spam. Mobile ass spam. The satisfaction of landing headshots with SAED is also completely gone.

Makes sense. If you didn't have the skill to properly land strikes in previous games then you will like this new easy mode Greatsword.

Three factors here, position, direction, and timing. If your ability to control all three factors were negated, it would be pure luck. The more factors you can control the more skill based the system is.

It used to be luck. Predicting where the monsters parts are going to be is impossible. They decide what they are going to do based on a weighted random seed. You were just gambling and pretending it was skill when it hit.

Now you have control over what direction it fires, but you still can't change position once you start the combo. So there is still a little bit of luck involved, but skill is more relevant.

It's like people who go to a casino and come home richer than when they left attributing their winnings to their own skill. No.

I always failed as a GS user back in world and rise... only managed to get a critdraw build using velkhana set... but in wilds GS is at its prime and so fun to use

I'm sorry your transition isn't making your lives better. No need to take it out on people who actually enjoy life.

nonsense. working around limitation is what defined skill with the weapon. with the GS it was to know when to attack, wehn to charge and when it is best to move away. now? you have all the controll ever, the weapon is easier to play than ever. if you have all the controll, then the weapon is just spam.

yes. landing charged draw strikes from the GS on a charging monster indeed required skill. hitting monsters like seregios or nargacuga with charged slashes even more.
all of that is gone now. I assure you, if those 2 will ever come to wilds then GS will have a really easy time dealing with them.

True. It's definitely going to be a huge change in playstyle since I'll be moving like a snail, lol. But surely there's moves that help you tank or counter the monster's attacks. I'll find out by watching a video on it. And this change might feel pretty refreshing by forcing me into a new way to fight.
