All I can think is I took too long to get to it, the last time it ran away.
Is there supposed to be 2 on the map at all times?
I definitely didn't kill it, but I had it to where it couldn't even damage me any more, because I took away it's weapons. I legit probably only had to hit it a few more times to finish the quest, but with it completely resetting the monster, I had no chance (had 5 mins left) I couldn't even break one of the claws in the time left)
It was the first monster I actually was trying to farm the breakable parts from too, so was really annoying. I was also using dual daggers that i don't really like that much, but they're fast and I have them with fire element, which it's weak to.
I might just craft a fire sword and shield and go back, I prefer the sword and shield, and it's pretty fast (I usually use Swag axe and bow, but they're a little slow form this guy)
PS: I thought it must have been an anomaly, as I cannot find any info online about other people running into this issue.
I have no idea what you're talking about. Monsters can still attack you and deal damage even with every part broken.
And yes it's just you. I've NEVER heard of this happening in any Monster Hunter game, EVER.
I just mean I had taken away it's claws, so it was missing me (it's attacks seemed to at least be lessened, and I wasn't having to dodge as much) That's how it seemed anyway.
Then the last time I followed it, it was replaced with a one that had both it's claws and stinger back. Basically like it had completely reset.
In the middle of a hunt for another monster?
Cause in that case yeah it probably just left the locale and another fresh one showed up thus “resetting” it.
Otherwise at the very start of the quest the first lala barina you found was not the quest one, but it was in the same direction so you attacked it by mistake.
After awhile it runs and leaves the map, getting replaced by a new one. So you now had the untouched quest barina and a freshly soawned barina in the map.
It was a survey. After you beat it in the quest, you can click on it on the map, start a survey and go and farm it for parts.
I had it almost beat, both fangs broke, and possibly stinger too (not 100% on the stinger) then it magically just had it's fangs back, and all it's health. It basically went back to it's spawn point and healed.
There was also 2 of them there. When I started fighting the one that was marked on the minimap, another one spawned in, but it just sat in the corner, not getting involved in the fight.
I chased the main one around, fighting it, had it almost beat, and then it seemed like it fully healed up, getting it's claws back. I guess it just despawned on me for some reason?
And yeah, the ONLY explanation I can think of for what happened to you is that you attacked the wrong Lala Barina in the first place. If you're actually on a quest with a timer and everything, the monster you're hunting will never leave the map until the timer expires. Or it's a bug that's so rare that nobody knows about it because this is my first time hearing about it.
I was fighting the correct one, as it was marked on the mini map. I fought it, broke the parts, then it ran back to the spawn point and healed, or it despawned and another one spawned in that replaced it or something.
I was definitely fighting the correct one though, as it was marked on the mini map.
Mid journey the second spider randomly crosses your path, you see a spider and think “ yep thats my guy” and start whacking.
However since its not the hunt target this spider can leave the map.
Since you havent unlocked all the forest monsters yet once it left the map a new spider came in cause the game didnt have any other options.
Yeah, that could be it. Lol. Thanks.
Basically, the game didn't do anything it wasn't supposed to do and you just weren't understanding what happened.
I had the mini map indication on the monster though, so the quest was definitely created for it. I also fought it for a good amount of time, I mean I broke all the parts on it. It just bugged out on me I guess.
PS: I picked the monster to do a survey on, and it added the stuff to the mini map, etc, so it's unlikely that this is what happened. Maybe you're right though. I'm not that experienced with these games.
This would be a lot easier to see if there was a video of it, but it could be a new issue the system introduced, although I've yet to encounter a description like this.
