I'm still testing it as it's one of the new tools to try and figure out, this lead to multiple carts, don't worry about the carts if solo, this offset is a bit more specific unlike the other weapons such as SWAXE/GS where you can just offset immediately.
Descending thrust and the charge attack are offsets, however, what they actually do is give you a moment of invulnerability from what I can tell or possibly super armor.
You can offset that flaming monkey's charge for example, however, even if you hit it, if it doesn't topple/stagger it, it can still continue to charge and you will be knocked back despite landing the offset with it's sound cue.
I personally did this with DT as well and it was strange that DT could but the grounded ver also could but did not stagger it as I thought.
For the DT, I believe it's the start of the attack, however, I've also heard the end of the attack could achieve this. I've not done that yet as my observations to what I actually offset was the start of the animation instead while the monster is also attacking.
Kinsect powders are for when you mark a target, you will normally do this through descending thrust.
You would not want this if you aren't at full essence as it's a pain to recall the extract mid fight unless you want to recall it or have a wound ready to pop
Recovery kinsect usually comes in the form of powder, I'm not sure which you're talking about in this case since I don't remember which is which.
When you collect... one of the essences that doesn't have a number, which is usually the tail or back of a monster, it heals you.
Not all monsters have this so some monsters are going to be easier with it.
You've described the rules of how status affects monsters, they do and should build up resistance to it over time, but it shouldn't matter much as it should be downed by the time it hits that point, hopefully.
IF you truly want to use aerial attacks... which I don't suggest for not only is it questionable in damage as it WILL shred your sharpness, it will take some investment for it.
You would need to go for an element build and stamina like a DB/Bow while using master's touch or protective polish.
To me, this is much harder to build and expensive for slots as you need to start getting elemental decos for it while sacrifing potentially affinity decos and you won't be able to use that stamina affinity boosting skill as IG normally does not need to worry about their stamina till it comes to excessive aerial movements or rolling.
If it is Blast - you get a small orange cloud that stays there for some time, which if you hit with an attack (or one of your teammates do), it explodes with Blast Damage.
If its Recovery - green cloud, which heals.
Etc, you get the idea.
I used IG a lot in World, but in Wilds it seems slower, I can't quite put my finger on it, it's different and I don't quite like it.
i'm not experienced in glaive, but i completed the game with it. For your questions;
Each kinsect comes with powder forms, when you mark monsters with your kinsect, it extracts a powder and when you attack it will trigger the element.
Offset is hard to pull because you need to charge your attack
Overall i found it very viable, time to time overpowered even, i would love suggestions myself, i'm still learning it too
The offset attack being a source of dps is also a pain to work with as it isn't just utility, it is also damage so you're stuck with an attack that can accidentally put you in a long animation lock that can only be cancelled by the offset attack midway.
This attack should've been an attack that's similar to how GS/SA for an example, to trigger, M1+M2.
1) Offset is new to wilds, but I don't think the offset's are mandatory. though I could be wrong, being a dual blades (no offset) and bow (no offset) user.
2) When you 'mark' a monster with your glaive's mark attacks, your powder-type kinsects will fly off your arm to attack the monster on their own every few seconds. each time they hit the monster in this auto-attack state, they will drop a small cloud of their powder.
hitting this powder will apply whatever that powders effect is in a small area - that poison kinsect, for example, will apply some poison buildup to the monster if its close enough when the powder is hit.
3) not sure what you mean - if its healing/recovery powder, see point 2.
4) Status's (blast/para/poison/sleep) do not apply to parts - only the monster itself. each time the status triggers, it becomes harder to buildup against that monster regardless of where you hit.
5) I don't know for certain, but I found that aerial attacks in the previous games were pretty good if you could manage your dodging and stamina - it leads to mounts as well.
might want to try the ground combos if the monster falls over though - easier to target specific parts that way (and you don't need stamina for them).
Ultimately, I would recommend trying find your own groove - if it works, and its fun, have at it.
good luck and good hunting!
