Technically 3 base slots, if you know how to swap around save files you could potentially have as many as you want.

Because the endgame grind is stupid. I play at least 2 characters, 1 solo and 1 only when I play co-op with my friend. The most fun this game has is the gear and material progression from nothing to the best gear. You pick 2 weapon types, stick to those for the entire game till the end. Then you start fresh with new weapons. You can just craft them at endgame but... why? There's no progression, it's lame.

If you want to create more characters than 3 you can use a mod instead of getting scammed by capcom.

because currently my 3 slots are occupied with different characters i use to play with different ppl, using my main character at HR 94 with everything i ever need isnt fun for my or my other friend who just got the game, and its a lot easier to start a new character than figure out what gear i can and cant make at the point they are in in the story

i wish there were more slots, makes no sense to limit it to 3 nowadays

Other way around, as it happens. My Youtube character is more exposed than my private one. Being an irredeemable pervert is part of my brand. My private character has a completely unmodded outfit, strangely enough.
