Yes, there is an achievement for see a crown with binocs (it'll show an image of the crown.)

There can be some AFK'ing involved in crown farming. As it's an easy way to refresh all the monsters on the map without paying any points. Just leave to do some task for 30+ minutes and all the maps will have refreshed. Where as if you boot down the game while you're gone, pretty sure it stays the same.

I've never once seen a tempered have a mini-crown. Not saying it's impossible. I don't know. But it seems incredibly unlikely given all the crowns I've farmed so far. Just looking back at my saved investigations of crowns, it seems like every single tempered monster that had a crown for me, every single one of them were big crowns only.

Hmm, finally found my first mini tempered in the game. Must just be skewered towards tempered being larger on average, but not impossible for the rare mini version of them.

Well the nameplate for all achievements looks even better than the one for gold crowns. By far the easiest Monster Hunter to 100%. Turns out I'm not that quick either. 92 people already did it on PSN. 10 on xbox already. People must have been employing same strats I was with crown hunting.

What are yall doing for the apex’s? I cannot seem to get one to be mini crowned. Also tempered monsters can indeed have crowns, me and 2 buddies had a tempered gore magala be a mini

you can get small and large crowns from tempered.

I was farming a bunch of whales tempered for parts/artian and got both gold crowns back to back.

crowns seem waaaay more common in wilds.

Well it intuitively feels that way because of the binoculars allowing you to see any crowns, I wonder how true that is for actual spawn rates. Since the solutions before for crownhunting in world, was either modding or watching a Gaming with Abyss to help you determine whether a monster is close enough to a crown to use your time hunting to check. Here there's zero wasted time checking.

Here I had to reload areas 50 times to find a crown versions of Apex monsters. In world I remember doing the same roughly, just wasting more times on false alarms I thought were close.

Did they really release all the monsters Golden Crown? I'm looking for Xu wu and Gore magala for 3 day and i met only silver about 40+ times now and I still can't find it.

Monsters in this game can randomly vary in size, so long as they aren't ran across in a story or optional quest setting. Some of these monsters can be tiny or giant. Tiny versions are easier to hunt. Giants are larger with their hitboxes including their attack and reach, I believe they also have more hp, require more damage to break parts and to inflict statuses like stun, and even wounds seem to show up slower for giant version of monsters.


For an easy example of a giant version versus the regular size. Check alpha dogushama versus regular members of it's pack. That's a gold crown monster.

Slaying the crowned versions of monsters is kept track of in your monster guidebook and it required to 100% the game. 3 monsters do not have the capability of having crowns. These are guardian arkveld, the ice dragon, and the final boss.

Using community discords to get the crowns is great if you're a completionist. If you are just enjoying the game though, stumbling upon a bite sized small gold crown chatacabra is cute as hell. I was bigger than his head xD.
