Which monsters cannot be captured?

I tried and failed to capture Uth Duna and Jin Dahaad - when they both had the skull icon in the minimap, shock trap + 2 tranquilizer bombs didn't do anything. So I figured they cannot be captured. What other monsters can't be captured?

If the game says "Slay ABC" as the objective then they can't be captured. If it says "Hunt ABC" then they can be.

I think the only monsters that cant be captured are Jin Dahaad and Zoh shia

Ohhh thanks. So if I find one in the wild I should be able to capture them?

You can check trap conditions in the monster info.
Some are imune, flying ones need to touch the ground first.
Apart from that, only elder monsters can not be captured or at least it was like this in the last 2 games.

your probably doing story quests that say slay the monster not hunt

Depends on what the quest condition is. Afaik Zoh Shia is the only monster traps don’t work on and Jin Dahaad can only be trapped with Shocks but theirs quests will always be a slay quest.
