Which confused me - there is no option ingame to set the device specific for the game?

No. The game is a console port, and normally a console does not support multiple outputs for multiple tasks. Hence you would not find such ingame.

Usually through windows. At the bottom right on the taskbar you can change it there and the game usually changes with it.

Ah I'm sorry, thats not what I wanted to know - but thank you!

My goal is to stream Spongebob on the TV (with sound from TV) and play MHWilds with sound via headphones.

I can't set the audio output device for my browser, so I tried to set it in MHWilds but I can't find any option to set the device ingame.

Thanks for your answers, this helped me catch that my audio output switched on me after connecting a monitor.

For the original question in this thread, I was wondering if you are running windows 10? And was also wondering if you already tried using the " app volume and device preferences " page? For me, I can change the audio output for my open applications such as mhwilds and browser.

You can get to the page by right clicking the volume icon in taskbar -> select "open sound settings" -> under adv sound settings, select app volume and device preferences".

I don't see a lot of games, "console port" or otherwise, which allow you to manage sound output devices in-game (input is more common for games that use voice chat).

A shortcut to get to the legacy Sound Control Panel settings that'll save you several clicks is to just hit Win & type mmsys.cpl, which will bring up the Control Panel item directly. You can also create a desktop shortcut to save yourself more time.
