My goal is to stream Spongebob on the TV (with sound from TV) and play MHWilds with sound via headphones.
I can't set the audio output device for my browser, so I tried to set it in MHWilds but I can't find any option to set the device ingame.
... let me say it slowly: n-o-t ... i-n-g-a-m-e
No. The game is a console port, and normally a console does not support multiple outputs for multiple tasks. Hence you would not find such ingame.
For the original question in this thread, I was wondering if you are running windows 10? And was also wondering if you already tried using the " app volume and device preferences " page? For me, I can change the audio output for my open applications such as mhwilds and browser.
You can get to the page by right clicking the volume icon in taskbar -> select "open sound settings" -> under adv sound settings, select app volume and device preferences".
A shortcut to get to the legacy Sound Control Panel settings that'll save you several clicks is to just hit Win & type mmsys.cpl, which will bring up the Control Panel item directly. You can also create a desktop shortcut to save yourself more time.
