Currently I think Rise is in a better state than Wilds simply because it runs smooth, the multiplayer is not hidden behind multiple layers and the movement and the ability to switch weapon skills for your personal move set was quite refreshing.
The only thing that was weird is that you had to collect all these birds for a stat boost, but I just started to ignore them if I was not hunting something challenging.
This will probably change in the next few weeks (or months)
So far Wilds is a bit disappointing with the optimization many are struggling with and the crashes. I’m holding out a bit of hope for future updates to make it better though. Also monsters have way too little health in this game. I should not be getting 5min kills when I’m not even being that aggressive.
Eventually I finally got tired of that in sunbreak and grabbed a mod that spawned one of the “super” birds on me at the start of every hunt to max stats and just get rid of that annoying mechanic altogether.
If I'm being honest with myself, I feel like I am more effective, and do more damage as a Bow User in Rise/Sunbreak as opposed to World/Iceborne.
This is why I added the skill that randomly attracts a random bird to me to fill my health and stamina without having to run all over the map.
Graphics were best in world, I liked em even more than in this blurry grey/brown n64 texture trash
I also liked the general gameplay design of the older games, like:
seperated maps that you explore on foot, with the chicken riding you miss a lot of the exploration
town hub instead of camps
cat kitchen
quest board
simpler multiplayer
...
Content Quantity - RiseBreak
Content Quality - RiseBreak
Character/Plot - RiseBreak
Biomes - Wilds
So MH: World is better.
I’m still disappointed in no proper cooking animation from a chef in town. I want something equivalent to grandma from Iceborne again.
