Thoughts on this vs Rise/Sunbreak so far?
Obviously Rise/Sunbreak has more content than Wilds right now, but quality wise, which would you guys say is of higher quality, or more enjoyable to you so far? Currently playing through Rise/Sunbreak rn, and played up to 2hrs of Wilds so far, but keeping it at 2hrs for now in case I decide to refund due to performance crap lol.

Thanks for any responses :)

rise will always be the lowest on my monster hunter list
Dunno why you'd compare it to Rise.

Wilds is a mainline game, like World. Rise is a portable team game.

Mainline games get better graphics, more restrained movesets and monster designs, smaller rosters with tighter themes, and usually better maps and story.

Portable games get more monsters jammed in regardless of theme, the monster designs can be wilder, and the weapon movesets are usually padded with some flashy stuff.

Arguably mainline games are "better," but portable titles are often as much fun if not more.

So far I prefer Worlds to Wilds, but prefer Wilds to Rise.

I didn't play iceborne or sunbreak because I don't consider any DLC as real content and never have. But compared to vanilla Rise and World, it's... different. Vanilla Rise and World had 10 months of devtime before making it to PC so they felt like more complete experiences.

Wilds just... High rank flat out doesn't end like it does in every other MH. And I'm a gun player, and they did the guns DIRTY in this game by removing the reload and recoil stats and skills. There are many little things that annoy me... But the combat is great, even if, well, it's not the Monster Hunter it used to be (I'm old, and I turn to dust now)

Rise at least didn't put you on rails for 90% of the main story and had functional multiplayer, neither of which is true for Wilds.
I have tried monster hunter rise for 100 hours (I say "tried" because I haven't finished the base game yet and by extension, I haven't started sunbreak, I quit since they put the enigma DRM ) and even though RISE is... “smaller” (I don't know how to say it) I feel it has more soul, in the artistic design and soundtrack, much more cheerful in the style like the old monster hunters games (MHGU for example).

I'll put it this way:

When World came out I hated it. When Iceborne came out I forgave it and learnt to enjoy it.
When Rise came out I loved it. The only major let-down was how difficult it was to use Cheat Engine with it compared to World. When Sunbreak came out I was gravely disappointed... which increased in severity when I encountered the Qurio-infested monsters and they forced me to ruin my perfect capture record.

Wilds? So far it can eat a bag of d!cks. I'm still playing it because it is Monster Hunter and I'm an addict.... but so far it feels like the worst Monster Hunter EVER... Plus it is thus far impervious to my attempts at modifying with Cheat Engine. But then I used to think the same about World until Iceborne redeemed it. Maybe Master Rank will redeem Wilds too.

As it currently stands I'd rank Rise ahead of Wilds... and just put aside my dislike of Sunbreak.

It depends on what you prefer. When it's a non mainline game "ala rise" it feels more arcadey. They use these titles to play around with designs and movesets and mechanics to see what sticks.

I didnt really care for rise. It was ugly and I disliked the wire bugs or obtaining buffs on maps via spiritbirds. Which was rises version of prep time.

As for wilds since I can run it at 100+ frames and have no crashes. Just some texture pop in issues here and there I'm loving every second of it. More so then I did base World.

So wait... you don't think FU, 3U, 4U, and GU are real content... that is the wildest monster hunter take I've ever heard (those games are what sunbreak and iceborn were since we used to have the buy the entire games twice instead of main game and dlc)

What's wrong the multiplayer? My friend's internet sucks donkey nuts and he lags but it doesn't get him killed. We did have him disconnect like 3-4 times total after 30 hours so actually not bad. Meanwhile in Worlds you get the disconnect error for 3 MONTHS. That was insane and unacceptable. I am glad they did better this time.

They are whole games and not DLC for existing games 😎
I've made my terrible take and I'm sticking with it lol

People here despise Sunbreak (I'm a fan of Sunbreak despite its flaws) but what I can tell you in Sunbreak has infinitely better build variety and weapon balance.

Wilds also gave half the weapons iFrames and Counters so I don't buy that argument. Wilds is doing a lot of what was bad with Sunbreak all over again but nobody is complaining about it like they did with Sunbreak.

I do not have this game yet. My PC needs a bit of an upgrade to run it on the lowest settings apparently. From what I have been reading it looks like NOT buying it on launch is actually the smart thing to do. I guess I will wait until after the big update in April.

Currently sunbreak has an endgame, and its honestly one of the best end games in the entire series having played through nearly all of them. If you want a huuuuge grind then go for sunbreak because you'll have a ton of fights and a long grind, and by the time you're done with sunbreak wilds will have caught up in content.

But yeah sunbreak has the most fun end game grind out of any of the games so far simply because it has the most diversity in what you can hunt for the things you need. Plus its got some things we'll never see again in the series so its a cool thing to at least play through once.

giving two extra Monsters and a gathering hub is not what I would consider a "big update"

I prefer Rise to Wilds so far. I'm putting in the time but I have yet to be impressed.
