When is the free roam?
Im a few quests into the game and I am trying to finally get a full kit of the Giant Toad armor, I'm missing a Sharp fang . Anytime I try to leave the base camp, I get forcibly told I cant leave yet so I can go hunt for that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sharp fang xD

When does the game let me wander out of camp to just... putz about like Worlds did?

Between quests, can't exactly tell you the exact moment as the pull the leash so often in the early game, but the game's a lot more free roam in high rank, which is 10 to 20 hours in depending on how you go about it.
Okay... I'll give you a hint:
The game will SOMETIMES let you get Alma to give you quests. If you can get an Optional Quest in the Desert then take a brief break from hunting the large monster (probably Chatacabra) and instead run off into the grassy area and find one of those Crocodile / Swordfish type things with the jagged nose. They only have one carve: Sharp Fang.

Sharp fangs I believe are dropped by small carnivores, like the long faced raptor things in the desert.
I mean, you should be able to just leave the base camp any time you're not actively in a mission scenario after like 2-3 missions. At least it seemed that way any time I tried.

Would you say that is after you go to Tasails little village? xD I seem to perpetually be in main quest mode lmfao

If you get to any point in the game where the objective changes to hunting the creature, then open the menu and choose to return from the quest, you can free roam anywhere that you've unlocked up to that point.

I'm pretty sure I wandered around at least a little before that point. I wasn't "authorized" to hunt one of the large monsters I tried to fight early, but was otherwise able to just wander around and do anything else. After you see a "mission complete" you're basically free to just do most things, don't go accept anything else from Alma.

Wilds doesn't really promote the player to explore in low rank. You can in between story missions but there's honestly no real point to do so outside of getting a handful of materials you need to complete an armor/weapon.

If you want to explore in low rank. You need to ignore all marked NPCs or likely get locked into the next story mission. Shouldn't be hard to figure out really, but it might take a bit to be allowed to explore if you're literally just starting a new game.

World did low rank better in my opinion. In that you went exploring from the start and actually tracked down monsters. Also didn't have anything of the "you're not authorized to hunt this monster" crap when finding something new while exploring.

High rank is MUCH MUCH better! Problem is, it takes like 15 hours give or take to reach high rank in Wilds.
