I'm not sure if the game will let you directly modify your layout and the game really tried to use every one of its buttons, but you could maybe set up left/right stick click to be a macro, since you probably won't use either of those functions under normal circumstances.
Can I ask what weapon you're using? I saw someone complaining that they were finding the HH(I think) Y+B input very difficult, and some weapons have very strict timing for simultaneous inputs (e.g. Switch Axe sword RT+Y parry needs you to be very strict, while you can input Charge Blade sword RT+Y guard-morph slash with the RT years before the Y).
Are you familiar with steam big picture mode and its ability to rebind controller stuff?
