Weapon question
Can I ask the VETS of MH, worlds was my first MH game, whats the point of pure physical non-elemental weapons? Any skills that enhances them? Other than the attack boots/crits/burst.

There is usually a trade-off. Just peeking now some of them have improved sharpness, some affinity, some damage. More importantly tho you don't need to worry about status or elemental skill gems to get the most outta them.

And with Wilds, the most important thing to look at for endgame weapons is the weapon's in-built skill. Would take an elementless weapon with the skill I want over one with huge elemental damage but bad / useless skill.
They typically have higher raw power values than the elemental ones. Also, non element weapons works on everything. you know, fire weapon wont deal as much dmg to a fire monster compared to a similar tier non elemental one.
Non-Elemental Boost exists for raw damage (I assume it's in this game). Something worth minding is that elemental damage is in addition to the raw damage, which is why elemental weapons tend to have lower raw damage than their same-tier raw counterparts.
World is an odd thing to reference bringing this up though, since raw was king in World except for one very specific fight (that being Alatreon).

The common wisdom is that, because of the nature of elemental damage being 'in addition' to the raw damage, slow weapons benefit more from raw damage, while fast weapons benefit more from elemental damage. How true that is can vary by game.
Otherwise, McFuzz has the right of it; weapon skills are likely going to be the most important thing you look for in your current tier, unless there's a specific playstyle thing you care about (like shelling type for Gunlances).
This is legacy knowledge since I haven't played Wilds itself for that long... but the following factors are generally true:

#1. Weapons can be True Raw, Status, Element, Hidden Status or Hidden Element.
The difference here is that Hidden Status / Element weapons look and function like Raw weapons unless you have the requisite "Awaken" (or whatever they call it in any given generation) skill to make the special Status / Element effect visible.

#2. Weapons are usually balanced between their various attributes. That is to say Power, Affinity, Sharpness (for Bladey weapons), Deco Slots, and other stuff like Defense and weapon type unique factors (e.g. phials, tunes, ammo types, etc).

#3. Following on from the other two factors, pure Raw weapons tend to either be focused on attack power (e.g. Tigrex, Diablos) or on affinity / sharpness (e.g. Nargacuga). Sometimes Raw weapons appear to be mediocre because they have an incredibly potent Hidden Status or Element.

#4. Elemental Damage isn't influenced by motion values. What this means in practice is that Element Damage is more effective / useful for weapons that do many fast but weak attacks (e.g. Dual Blades) and least effective for weapons that rely on single powerful attacks (e.g. Greatsword). For that reason, people will tend to prioritise elemental weapons for fast-attacking weapon types and simply use Raw or Blast for slower, more powerful weapons.

from my understanding best weapons have high damage and high affinity. so they kinda good all around . if you want specific monster to deal with you want to go elemental for that monster . its more specialize which means when u go from monster to monster you want to have elementel weapon that fit the fight.

while none elemental will have damage to kinda ngate elemental but it might be little slower for a specific monster vs elemental .

Damage is damage. If the raw weapon does more DPS than an elemental weapon against a specific monster, then objectively the raw weapon is better.

In some MH games, for some weapons, the best raw weapon is so much better than the best elemental weapons against the majority of monsters, there is no point using element for that weapon.

It depends not only on the weapon balance, but also the skill balance and the monsters' raw and elemental Hit Zone Values (HZV) for that game.

Also, elemental weapons need more effort to craft multiple sets, and you need to change loadouts before every hunt (or even mid-hunt for multi-target hunts). So even if elemental is better, if the gap isn't too big (like <5% DPS difference), you might choose to just use raw for convenience.

In LR and HR the gap is usually not important. Raw could be 10% lower DPS than the right element, but it doesn't matter if you finish the hunt in 10 minutes or 11 minutes out of 50.

In MR / G-Rank then it will become more important if you care about your performance/efficiency, especially for special fights with lower time limit.

i think its better if your weapon has high damage high affinity and 3 skill slots and blue sharp . that prob max dps you can achive with weapon

Besides the explanations given here in this threat, there's "no point" of raw if two weapons have the exact same raw (normal attack) damage, about same sharpness, but only one has elemental damage and the other has no elemental damage, the one with elemental would be superior in every way or at worst equal because some monsters can have immunities to certain elements.

Only exception would be if non elemental boost decoration is in the game, which I'm not sure it is, I don't have one yet, the elemental weapon would never trigger the effect of this decoration.

#4 has never been true, afaik. Elemental damage gets its own modifiers for damage just like raw and its Motion Values. In wilds, its even more important as the elemental modifiers are more varied than in past monster hunter games.

I remember there used to be resistances.

That's the thing though.

Plenty of cases where many raw weapons have 210-220 damage while elementals maybe have 200-210 + 300 something.

There's no way one would think the latter deals less damage even if it's not effective.
