High rank hunts not working?
Hit high rank a bit ago and noticed a issue. When selecting a monster on the map sometimes it will say I can't start a hunt for the monster. Also going up to the monster in the world says you can't start one against it. Anyone have this happen? It happened last night and today as well.

IS this before or after you surveyed the forest?

After I did the forest survey. I came back and had a side/optional quest to get high quality parts for the Chatacabra for the smithy. The first time I fought one it worked, but I could not fight the second that was on the map. Then I got on today and had the same thing happen with the Chatacabra.
Your HR must be higher to start quests for stronger hunts.

Think of it like the old system where there wasn't an open world: certain monsters had certain HR requirements to unlock their quests, so you couldn't just go out and fight whatever you wanted as soon as you entered HR.

It's the same here, the only difference being the open world allows them to appear and wander around before you can hunt them.

So a basic Chatacabra requires a higher rank then tempered monsters when I had just fought a basic Chatacabra earlier?
You can kill them as much as you like, but you are not allowed to start hunts as long as you dont have the HR.

Figured out what causes this. If a non-quest monster takes a lot of damage then the quest to fight it goes away for the duration of the monster being there. So if I fight a Chatacabra to start the quest and another monster comes in like a Quematrice then damaging the Quematrice will invalidate it for questing. No clue how much damage it can take before this happens though.
