Can you recommend a good 2nd weapon to compliment my primary weapon: Lance

I'm wondering what other weapon I should learn and keep on me. I was thinking Hammer or Hammer Horn? Any recommendations from players that know better than me ( I am new and dumb)

maybe an agile weapon like Dual Blade or Longsword for faster hyperactive enemies or if the monster is endlessly moving around which makes it difficult to hit its tail because of its body length like Balahara. Or a Aerial Weapon like Insect Glaive and Longsword with its Helmbreaker to reach Wings and the back of taller monsters

Insect Glaive is so lovely and has a fun game play loop to it!

You can also just become a helicopter to mount monsters easily

Since there's no blunt-specific monsters yet, I'd probably be inclined to take a ranged weapon (like Heavy Bowgun) to shoot flying things.

I think going for a blunt weapon as your secondary is a smart choice, but I'll make an argument for DB or insect glaive. I think having the option to be more mobile would make for a more enjoyable experience

A person of culture. Have you tried the gunlance as well? I recommend the Great Sword. Been using gunlance and greatsword and went through the entire game with them.

I just tote around a hunting horn as my secondary. Since I heavily main DB, any other one for actual combat use wouldn't honestly be used much. HH on the other hand sees action simply for the extra buffs.

If you already have gear to compliment your lance playstyle with stuff like constitution or evade extander or stuff like that i'd recommand heavy or light bowgun, bow or longsword.

I main lance as well and use hunting horn or shield and sword.

The gunlance was my initial secondary choice, but I haven't put any time into learning it or resources for crafting upgraded gunlances. And I was worried they'd be too similar for primary and secondary.

Lance and Hammer is what i rocked from the beginning - both very fun and contrast well
