The game is 120% as easy as world and rise where on release if not even a little bit harder, 99% of the hard content came to rise and world with the updates (which seems to be already the case with the april update) and also will be the case for wilds.
I don't know why people seem to compare like lategame rise and world to wilds, when both had very easy base game releases

Agreed, they act like Iceborne was the base game in World. Before all the updates, World wasn't that challenging. I think the first boss I died to was Rathalos.
I also have a lot of fun with GS and DB this time around. Can't wait to try out the others but I tend to first get gud with 1-2 weapons before trying different weapons.
I also used to enjoy the wyvernsnipe special shots, because you could dump your special meter into a single shot and then go back to using your regular ammos right away instead of having to sustain fire on the monster with wyvernheart. The new wyvernpierce feels sooooo bad though, and it now shoots multiple rounds instead of one single bullet.
I used to build around spread because I liked being in the monster's face, but spread feels terribad now so I'm building around normal ammo; I used to lean toward wyvernsnipe because it was quick and put me back into the spread action right away, but the replacement wyvernpierce feels terribad now so I'm using wyvernheart. I could list more things I don't like about HBG in this game, but suffice it to say most of the reasons I used to play this weapon are either gone or changed imto something I don't like. It's still too early for me to say whether the new version is statistically better or worse than the previous versions, but it's been homogenized for the worse and I can say that I definitely don't like it as much.
I just wish the monsters got the same treatment because ever since World they are just not keeping up with the power creep we hunters get.
I do love the Kinsects all being a auto-attack variety now and they give you buffs while you combo
But the frequent mountings are a bit jarring, the whole game takes a pause while you spam R on a head, then you just get a brainless knockdown combo opportunity from it too, so I feel like I'm actually playing less and just going through the motions.
