Do not fire an SOS during "Fire Chicken" quest.
In the quest where you save the Palicos from the fire chicken, do not fire an SOS. From what I hear this causes the game to not complete the quest flag in which would allow you to start cooking meals, essentially locking you of getting food buffs until Capcom patches this.
