Nata is quite unbearable
I know Monster Hunter isn't about the story but holy crap why are they forcing this kid down your throat so much? I get they wanna do something with him story wise but they really need to leave his ass back at camp

To me all characters are annoying and the story looks like being made for kids. I only like monster hunter wilds because of the fights, I skipped the dialogues in the story, because they were not enjoyable to me.

Nata is bearable because he's a one-and-done story character. Most characters during Monster Hunter storylines are cringe levels of epic proportions, he's just some dumb kid who for some reason you and your little squad decide is extremely important - it's just an excuse for you to kill stuff, that's how I see it. Paper thin level of plot to introduce you to mechanics and monsters.

The fact Capcom decided to make the tutorial a cinematic experience with a fully voiced hunter with lame RDR2 tier riding sections where you have to pick responses and questions is whatever, just brain dead AAA development where they copy each other through greed. It can also be ignored, for the most part.

For me though I detest Alma. The fact they thought having a Seikret and an NPC following you at all times, offering stupid comments and trying to help you constantly that you can't even bench is terrible. If they wanted to do something like this, they should have let you pick what NPC follows you around and have them grant different bonuses - Alma giving bonus rewards, Erik giving bonus GP, Fabian giving bonus HR XP or whatever - with the option to not bring anyone and just get bonus Zenny or something.

"The Guild authorises you to hunt this thing!"

Pfft!

Player choice is meant to be the strongest most valuable thing in a video game but damn do they rob that from you in this game. Nobody liked the Handler in World, so why did they think making the next game having her stapled to your waist like a lost puppy at all times would be an improvement? lol

That's exactly why I always skip the Monster Hunter stories, I appreciate what they are trying to do but everyone feels so dry as characters

It doesn't even feel like they are talking like people in most scenes

And the father doesn't seem like he is the father, Nata might have been adopted to begin with hahaha I don't know this insistence of "multicultural families"
wouldn't it be funny if the "father" of nata doesn't mention being a good friend of nata's dad as being the reason he takes in nata.....

oh wait...that's exactly the reason

its a cliche trope of revenge kid but hes so stupid and spinless its annoying bouncing from "give me your weapon" to crying like a ♥♥♥♥♥ even at one time saying "why did this monster destroy my home" i dont know maybe its a monster??? its part of its instinct not like its malicoius its just a beast

its almost as if learning that last part is his whole character arc......

god, are monster hunter players so simple that they can't handle a story with more nuance than "here is big club, go kill thing threatening village"?
dude the whole point of a character ark is to be invested for the pay off sometimes a arc will blind side you but weve seen this nata kids character in so many stories and this game wrote it so badly im fine with a cheasy plot that this type of character brings but here its like nata and all the characters are so bi pola switching from defrint tropes over and over and no actual story i actually think black smith lady is worse than nata to be fair for example can anyone tell what happen at the basin ? cause it made me crash so hard we the player do everything and one girl from the village bring one jug of oil back for there furnace that has been a tradition in the vilalge for years.... after you beat black flame the whole village starts celebrating this girl??? for bring back one jug of oil???? and then star talking about they were arrogen/ignorent for using the furnace???? beacause of the inasne fire burst THAT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM ???? legit they have been doing it for years and some old fart even says its happened before with a huge fire burst? but some how the village is in the wrong for doing what they always have done? some how things only go wrong when main character is around the storys plots make no sence and rush thruogh so much its not funny

the story is rushed and badly written giveing birth to a slew of annoying character like nata alma and black smith lady and every other character is forgettable oh if someone can please tell what happened at the basin off screen id like to know cause i genuinly dont understand why there was so much celebration for characters that did nothing... oh and what was that weird story bit with balck smith lady in the ice cave talking about that same girl with the oil pot it legit comes out of noware and that plot died as fast as its bruoght up?

you sly dogg you got me mono logging

I think it's odd how much of the story revolves around him, we know absolutely nothing about this kid but are pushed to find out where he came from

That itself isn't a bad thing but the kid is so cringe and awkward LOL

My brother in christ, HIS APPEARANCE WAS LITERALLY THE INCITING INCIDENT AT THE START OF THE STORY. FINDING HIM IN THE DESERT IS LITERALLY WHY WE HAVE A WHOLE ASS EXPEDITION TO THIS PART OF THE WORLD.

that said, i agree with your last sentence
but what else is there to his character?

It's not Nata for me. It's everyone except for Olivia. Why are they so unnaturally happy ALL THE TIME???

It's almost as bad as Ava from Borderlands 3.

Can't forget the constant apologizing in every single scene as well

at least you have legitimate criticisms (I think, hard to tell with half the typos you have). rest of the folks here seem to be hell bent on hating for the sake of hating.

Fair question. I'm gonna say typical (and admittedly poorly executed) sheltered kid forced from home due to traumatic events learning to have empathy for what amounts to wild animals.

"Best" part was when we learned the true nature of the White Wrath and he wents from "this thing is worse than the devil, destroyed my home, killed my friends" to "OMG, he is just like me!! Don't kill it!!".

So why again did we walk past the graves few minutes earlier? And is the big baddy now ok because of what it is? Even if it doesn't behave like a predator but simply destroys things? If it were a natural being, then it wouldn't be ok? And why did Nata suddenly relate to that creature. It's not like Nata was a shell starting having choices. Dude, you might have be narrow minded because of your village, at best, but during the game you made a lot of choices on your own. Killing all the other monsters were fine but this one is to much and it suddenly deserves to live?

I must missed some conversations because that came completly out of nowhere with a finger snap. Funny enough, the final boss of the LR story was fine to kill again.

The story had an interesting idea but the execution is kinda a new low imho. Might be because you have to sit trough the story thanks to all the walking.
