MHWILDS is First MH Game with 0 Elder Dragon thus far.
Wilds, suprisingly didnt have any Elder Dragon in the base game.
You'd think that Arkveld would be but it isnt.
its classified as "Extinct Species"

Jin Dahaad is also suprisingly not an elder dragon given its size, and way of manipulating its surroundings and freezing everything it touches. its classified as "Leviathan"

and finally,

Zoh Shia is a "Construct" monster.

so yeah... aint that a doozy
No elder dragons yet.

1. Jin Dahaad is an elder dragon BECAUSE of its size... them 2 dragons in Rise where the same, their labled LEVIATHAN but are Elders (not to mention the similarity's between them in body structure)
No, they are not Leviathans. They don't fit in with Leviathans or anything else and are therefor Elder Dragons.
Oprindeligt skrevet af -=EDF=- Kouta Seto:
2. Zoh Shia is labled ELDER DRAGON as it can wreck entire eco systems
Zoh Shia is not labeled an Elder Dragon since it's an artificial creature. If there were a natural version of it, would likely be an Elder Dragon because it doesn't fit into any other classification.

I'd argue that being powerful is just coincidental for Elder Dragons. There are non Elder Dragons that are more powerful than some Elder Dragons.

3. Arkveld is labled extinct, as is Fatalis in EVERY MH ENTRY IT IS IN! And its the GOD of Elder Dragons, the most powerfull monster existing (especiel White Fatalis), so that doesnt mean arkveld aint an elder dragon WICH IT IS!
Arkveld is a Flying Wyvern. That absolutely means that it isn't an Elder Dragon.

By lore, Safi'jiiva is on par with if not more powerful than Fatalis.

So, "Elder Dragon" is a classification, not a species.... Given that it's for beings that can fully alter the state of the surroundings, you can technically call the Apex of each zone an Elder, given that they're strengthened by, and can increase the affects, of the "storm" of each zone.

It's also why everything is called a form of wyvern. , it's a way to file classification, not a physical species name.

Or, in mechanics terms, it's using a common skeleton, but shhhh.

But hey, that's putting in more effort and understanding of the lore than your typical point farmer will ever use, so there we go.

Everything else is either forgetting how Monster Hunter has been released in the last 25+ years, or just falling for the same dumb-ass bait as calling a game where knowledge is the key to success and not just player skill "hard".

Give it a few months. You've other games to play if you're done, I'm sure.

The reaosn i would not call ex Rey Dau an elder dragon is because Rey is VERY known, one of the key things on elder dragons beyond being strong is that they defy classification, there is not enough info on them to even classify them.
Also Rey Dau is not an ECO level threat, since he lives in harmony with his ecosystem.

It can't be, you mean to say that there isn't even Lunastra and Teostra in it?

I seem to remember Akanator in MH2U. They could have brought back many, given the location design, even the controversial Lao-Shan Lung.

Well, are there at least some giant monsters?

Jin Dahaad has literally all of the same characteristics of the other elder dragons in the series, the only difference is his classification in the logbook is randomly assigned as Leviathan, despite it fitting pretty much all of the guild's criteria to be considered an elder dragon. Hell, as far as I could tell he seems to be the only monster that you couldn't use traps on. If Kirin and Yama Tsukami are Elder Dragons there is no reason Jin Dahaad shouldn't be. It makes no sense why he isn't classified as an elder dragon. If any monster in this game would be an elder dragon it would be him but they actively chose to classify him as a regular monster.

And technically we don't even know if Gore Magala is or is not a true elder dragon. In his debut game he's classified as ??? for most of the game and then randomly assigned "Demi Elder Dragon" for seemingly inexplicable reasons. He is literally the only monster in the entire history of this franchise with that classification. He is Schrödinger's Elder Dragon.

Elder Dragon has historically been used as a box to shove monsters into when they didnt fit the standard classifications (Flying Wyvern, Amphibian etc).

Jin Dahaad is just a really big leviathan with organs similar to Legiana for generating that cold.
Him being so huge is actually biologically accurate as cold adapted animals tend to be much larger than their warm weather cousins (Polar Bears are a good example).

Gore is classified so strangely because hes just a juvenile of his species, which itself hasnt really got a classification. So in-universe, biologists just have no idea what to actually classify him as.
Gravios/Basarios doesnt suffer a similar fate because they are very clearly Flying Wyverns in an adult/juvenile form. Initially thought of as 2 different species until it was worked out that Basarios was a juvenile.
Kind of like how Black Diablos was thought to be a subspecies until they realized it was just a normal female Diablos in heat.

Fun fact, Akantor and Ukanlos aren't Elder Dragons either and rival JIn Dahaad for size.
They are (Hilariously) Flying Wyverns.
So its not like the precedent hasn't been set since the second generation.

they literally replaced elder dragons with tempered monsters lmao, i haven't seen tempered monsters appear so fast in the game so fast before

Gore is classified so strangely because Capcom wanted a special little boy. It has nothing to do with in-universe biologists.

If they abided by their own lore Gore would be categorized as an Elder Dragon in the game. Just like it is in Hunter's Encyclopedia 4.

I figured Gore was treated how it was because it was treated more like a virus than a monster. Figuring out the monster classification is less important than understanding and resolving its infection.

In a way, i way thinking they replaced elder dragons and called them constructs. Because Jin Daheed and Zoh Shia are elder dragons in my eyes, even Arkveld is kinda elder dragon-like

they did state this game wasn't gonna focus on elders, as it wasn't about that, so rather then "replace" its simply not putting in many for the sake of putting in many.

maybe down the line we'll see a few but i hope they let some of the other monsters have time to shine, personally

at this stage the only elder i care about for master rank is velkhana for that precious frostcraft.

my mate really wants to fight nergigante again though

I wouldn't be surprised if we get elder dragons unlocked in title updates. I'd like to see nerg make a return. Maybe even make a guardian nerg and give him some of AT nerg's moveset from world.
