Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds

MHWILDS is First MH Game with 0 Elder Dragon thus far.
Wilds, suprisingly didnt have any Elder Dragon in the base game.
You'd think that Arkveld would be but it isnt.
its classified as "Extinct Species"

Jin Dahaad is also suprisingly not an elder dragon given its size, and way of manipulating its surroundings and freezing everything it touches. its classified as "Leviathan"

and finally,

Zoh Shia is a "Construct" monster.

so yeah... aint that a doozy
No elder dragons yet.

And fatalis isnt an elder dragon.
It is. Black Dragon and Elder Dragon are not mutually exclusive.

Fatalis is a black dragon, not an elder dragon. Its classified as something that can wipe out civilizations itself, and to the point where any record of its existence is erased from history. It "doesnt exist".

Elder dragon is mutually exclusive with everything else. Elder dragon is just "we dont know what you are, so you go here".

Elder Dragons (Japanese: 古龍種 Koryūshu) are a class of monsters introduced in the first generation. Unlike other monster types, which classify monsters by shared traits, Elder Dragons are creatures that defy typical classification and reside outside of the standard ecosystem, regardless of their resemblance to a dragon. These monsters are rare creatures with immense power that have lived since ancient times.
of which all black dragons would apply to.
Elders control natural elements (storms, fire, lava, thunder) and are walking disasters. Black Dragons control or are fundamentally unnatural (Fatalis is some kind of cannibalistic mutating hatred monster). Kush would be weird here, as it's some kind of mutated living metal or something.

Apparently the major distinction is if it's a threat to a continent or to the whole planet. Kush isn't weird here, as it's mostly just annoying.

Gore Magala is classified as an elder dragon in Hunter's Enciclopedia 4. There is no lore reason for it to be anything else.

Gore Magala is not classified as an Elder Dragon. It's adult form Shagaru Magala is an Elder Dragon, but the baby Gore Magala is not. For some inexplicable reason. Gore Magala is in a different classification entirely on its own.

A monster does not have to have control of a natural element for it to be classified as an elder dragon. For example, Chameleos and Yama Tsukami have no real control of any element or power (being able to poison hunters does not constitute control of an element). They simply just exist and don't fall in line with anything else.

Black dragons cannot be elder dragons because elder dragons are unclassified. Their only similar trait is that they share no traits in common with any other monster enough to be a singular classification.

A "dangerous first class monster" is a classification in itself, therefore it is not an elder dragon, as every dangerous first class monster shares the same traits with other dangerous first class monsters.

its a square rectangle moment:
not all elder dragons are black dragons, but all black dragons are elder dragons.

black dragons are simply the worst ones to meet

for example, alatreon:
alatreon, lore eredeti hozzászólása:
Alatreon's immense power stands among the pinnacle of Elder Dragons and it is regarded as a living natural disaster, capable of causing storms and widespread destruction wherever it resides

they are also a black dragon.

Its not a square rectangle moment, the definition of elder dragon excludes any other possibility. The moment it goes in any other classification, its no longer an elder dragon.

their common trait is their danger level, they aren't defined by their traits because of it, as stated in the lore i provided twice.

kirin and fatalis are both elder dragons, one is simply a black dragon also.

It IS classified as an Elder Dragon in Monster Hunter's Encyclopedia 4. You know. Like I already said.

it literally doesn't, as i provided for a third time:

common monsters are defined by their physcial charateristics, elder dragons are defined by their removal from an ecosystem and danger level

which hey: applies to literally every black dragon.
i'm staying subcribed to this just to see how many pages it goes

Monsters are classified by common biological traits. Elder Dragons have biological traits that make them not fit into a classification. Black Dragon is NOT a biological classification and therefor not mutually exclusive with a biological classification like Elder Dragon.
