All weapons rarity 4

So, I just want to make sure I'm not misunderstanding anything here, but literally every single weapon I can craft has Rarity 4 and the exact same damage number. Even the weapons I just unlocked when entering High Rank has the same attack. It just seems strange for me to have the very first base weapon have the same attack stat as High Rank weapons.

Is it supposed to be like that? I've never seen that in any Monster Hunter game before, that the lower rarity weapons just increase in rarity and stats like that. I didn't have to make new armour or weapons for such a long time in the story, since the attack or defence didn't improve.

Well putting attack aside lets focus on other things. The higher tier weapons (depending on your weapon of choice) could be seeing increased: decoration slots, better affinity, elemental damage and or status effects to offset the base attack power not rising. These puppies have more going for them than just raw attack power.

Upgrades change more things than just base damage. Weapons that don't show increases in base damage may have other improvements like Sharpness, Decoration slots, Skills, Affinity, Elemental or Status damage. Remember that Sharpness is a damage multiplier the equivalent for Bowguns is the Level of the bullet.

deco slot amount and deco lvls are what refines your armor build. adds skills you missing from armors.

and that slot amount can only be obtained by higher rarity gear.

in case weapons, rarity again defines max deco slots/levels but also increases sharpness in most cases.
