Why Change Decorations?
I've been doing arkveld missions over and over thinking I just wasnt getting crit boost and crit eye decorations, then raelized that wasn't the case at all.

You can no longer slot any gem into any socket, it's armor and weapon specific. Why?

Why limit what builds we can come up with? Not that damage seems to be a huge issue,but im stuck slotting random 1 star decorations into gear just because I don't have anything else to put there (despite having like 10 attack jewels but those are weapon only sorry).

Please someone tell me im stupid and doing it wrong just don't understand the reasoning behind a change like that

i think it's great cuz people in multiplayer die less

now the goal is to get 3 big decos with a lvl 3 talent and a lvl 1 talent for a total of 12 attack talent levels

Coming from Worlds, it seems really limiting / frustrating for the builds. I remember stacking so much crit jewels or stuff like that. Usually, I feel like attack jewels are just way better than defense jewels except special cases like Stamina for Bows etc...

Having three jewels max on the weapon seems limiting as ♥♥♥♥ IMO. We'll have to see on the long run but I just get triggered by the fact that I'm currently stuffing random bad defensive jewels like increase heal or random ♥♥♥♥ instead of increasing my attack.

TBH the new system seems lees limiting as world, world was all about one big meta with all those slots etc.
Here you can play like 20 different builds and change it more up because you are forced to not do the full everything is damage meta
They probably did this to counter the (close to) 100% crit glass cannon builds a LOT of people were using in World. Which is understandable imo.

Gonna be honest with you. This decoration change is terrible. And what decorations are weapon only, and armor only make no sense.

Focus is weapon only. Mind's eye that needs 2 levels to do the same thing as a level 1 mind's eye?

This rework is terrible. Weapons with skills on it would be so much more interesting if you weren't so brutally handicapped.

(Btw, most people ignore skills entirely, and get an end game artian weapon with 3, level 3 deco slots.)

If I could pick between NO weapon skills, and universal decos, and the current system? I'd pick universal decos and no weapon skills.

I could actually use gems like attack decos, agitator decos, or even guard up. (Yes, guard up, is a weapon only deco! meaning good luck fitting it in your build!)

Guard up being a weapon skill is extremely annoying.
I see what you guys mean I agree most of it. I just think, as I said, except for defensive talent / weapons requirements like stamina for Bows, defensive skills are not that interesting. Elemental res are useful only when you struggle on really strong beast such as the Alatreon I would say. I don't find many defensive skills useful when you have stuff like reducing stamina when you climb up though you have the Sekreit. Just feels off. I would love to see new talents coming on jewels more versatile than defensive or utility stuff, hybrid.
I think most of us don't get the change as is and are trying to understand why they decided to make this choice, the different reasons. And now that you guys layed out those answers, it feels more reasonable than I though.
I like it, makes it so we might no longer have the dumb 30 skill armor set by end game making everything else useless.

It was not, decoration slots were universal for all decorations before this game. Minus a few outliers like the rampage slots in base Rise.
in MHGU, you had to reach certain level of dec for them to be active.
Decos were still universal though. You could equip attack decos to armor to push you to the next breakpoint, you just had way less skills overall in general.
Yeah I'm definitely not in favor of this change, honestly made me boot up world tbh. instead of forcing defense decos to be used by heavily limiting offensive ones how about make them better? the better you get at the game the less use you have for defensive decorations. that's just a natural part of improving at monster hunter overall. and there are better ways to reduce the late game deco grind, like how in rise decorations were something else to craft just like armor so just remove the rng in getting what you specifically want while still giving you something to do. a lot is good in this game don't get me wrong but the endgame suffers for this decision in my opinion
i too think this is great on paper but have been less excited about it INGAME. i have gotten like 3 attack jewels and i cant use them.... WHY U HATE ME GAME. i have like 330 hours in LAUNCH world and never got an attack jewel....
im no pro just play the games, but i think they should of just limited the attack skills to 3-4. that way u could build how ever u want and would still FORCE ppl to not just pack their build with the exact same gems. guard up is a good example. i had a space 1 slot so i have it but i use to run around with guard up and spread build and both are garbagooo in this game.

the game is too new currently i think, but in a month im betting ppl will of figured out what CURRENT system stuff is best and tons of ppl just start to use the new max builds even if they are not like old max builds. there are already videos of ppl saying what skills dont actually do anything vs what does work well. so just a matter of time
I think they did this to stop people to do glass canon build in endgame every one in world was focusing dps build in endgame
dual decos are now super common, i've found multiple dual attack and something else decos... this system is gonna be sunbreak levels of too many skills on each set by the time we get to end rank G rank with how many dual decos we get.

world was the only game with attack deco drop rates like this, in every other game attack up has been good. If you played any other monster hunter you would have been swimming in attack decos. In risebreak you just craft them so no RNG

Wait. So I'm gonna need like 10 Bow Charge Plus jewels? How the ♥♥♥♥ am I supposed to do that?
monsters die really fast anyways there's no reason to go for full damage build(yet)
