Is it me? or CPU is kind of overheating?
Hello to all,

just downloaded the game,
I have an intel i7-14700Kf and I noticed that basically no matter what combination of graphic settings I try it will always resault in at least 90° C (Rn I'm playing 1080p with most of the "Cool" feature disabled, and high texture). I have also as GPU a NVIDIA 4080 for context. Has anyone the same problem? Can somebody explain it to me? I'm kind of new in pc gaming but my PC is one month old but all the other games I've tried max settings never had the same issues. I know there are a lot of complaints about bad optimization, but can they impact the CPU at this level? Last piece of info: as cooling system I have a Noctua NH-D9L, maybe it's too small.

thank you in advance!

take the sticker off your noctua before installing it
Don't eat the thermal paste, put it on your CPU instead

Already done it, I'm quite sure I set it all right, but I'll double check

Thats a hot CPU. WIth only air cooling That could be normal.
I have a i7-12700K with a Noctua NH-U12A, and temps are also rather high with 86°C.

It seems to be very demanding for the CPU.
Though 90°C is high, it should be still fine as long as it doesn't go up near 100°C. I think watercooling is needed if you want you want to reach something around 70 for this game.
Bad (or just decent) cooler for your cpu, I'd say according to this: https://ncc.noctua.at/cpus/model/Core-i7-14700KF-cpu-1761

Do you just have the one fan? That would be your issue. Your CPU normally comes with one but the more the better. I have 5 fans inside of my pc, also be sure you don't have any override systems on your pc that make it so your fans can't run as high as they need to like Fan Control.

If you do have something like that make sure the settings are allowing the fans to run as they need to. I took my baby I built myself to some tech bros and they installed one of these on my pc so the fans weren't loud and I had to uninstall it lmao not really needed on my part cuz you can just do it from bios.

This game for me mostly works the GPU as it should be. It does run the CPU hot during shader compilation but otherwise it's quite cool compared to some other games.

I'm of the mind that your cooler might be undersized for your processor at max performance. One of the few times where size matters, and I'll continue to tell myself that until I believe it.

Yes you are overheating.
This game pushes my 5800X3D up to 90C sometimes, and I'm pretty sure it's the only game to do so. Still below the 95C limit on AMD CPUs, but still not great.

And no, it's not because of a lack of cooling. I have a Noctua NHD-15 and most games run 70-80C max, which is normal for the 5000 series CPUs.

That cooler is more than sufficient for your CPU.

So either: you have a HEAVY CPU overclock applied that is too much for your cooler.

Or;

Your cooler is starved for fresh air, can't draw enough cool air in from outside the case. Poor airflow.

Or;

Your cooler isn't correctly making proper contact with the processor and needs to be reapplied.
Thank you all guys for the comments, turned out I've put just too little thermal paste. Sorry was not so cathartic ahhaha. But reallly appreaciated all your suggestions about cooling :) I'll keep them in mind in the future

Did you install the x129 intel bios by any chance?
that bios basically band aid fixed the broken 14th gen cpus by increasing voltage, loadlines in the bios.

if you know what your doing try find cpu lite mode in the bios and get it as low as possible while remaining stable this will massively drop the temps on the cpu.
I have done this on my 14700k and don''t go above 65c in any game.

you can also try loadline calibration but i recommend you do some research on it before tampering with settings as Mobo manufactures name it differently.
