Monster Hunter Wilds

Be honest - what does MH:Wilds have over MH:World?
I played World a lot and I loved it, but optimization issues aside from Wilds I haven't really felt the pull to buy Wilds that much. So for those that have played Wilds for a while...

How would you compare the two? Where does Wilds shine in comparison to the latter? Where does World shine over Wilds?

nothing, it looks even worse than a 7 years old game, runs bad, monster designs doesnt as distinct and interesting, your weapon hit and monsters attack doesnt feel as impactful, thumpy, its just not as memorable or unique in anyway, mediocre at best
Words cannot describe how wrong this is. lol

No clutch claw, better story, better graphics, more realistic environments, streamlined mechanics, better weapon movesets, better slinger ammo, and most importantly, no clutch claw.

Did I mention no clutch claw?
Who the ♥♥♥♥ needs better story in Monster Hunter?

Character movement feels a lot nicer in Wilds. e.g. Swinging a greatsword around is actually likely to hit the enemy now. That's the main difference. A few new attack moves but they stole Wyvernsnipe from me and I now have crippling depression.

I do agree that it did take more skill and game/monster knowledge to land hits with the Greatsword in World. It was more satisfying however.
This is like "What does Skyrim have over Oblivion?" Is just another Monster Hunter. If you're having fun playing the new ones, that's all it should matter.

Most importantly Combat is more fluid and has new mechanics.
Wound system
Perfect dodge and guarding.
Clashes with monsters.

Maps are even more alive lot more entities and changing weather/seasons.
If you stop and pay attention the details and day/life cycles are insane.

It has lot of new stuff world does not have.
But it will not be complete till Expansion with G/Master rank comes out with real endgame.
But on release Wilds is much better than on release World was.

pretty great summary honestly

Id recommend World to new players, and if they get their fill and want more, Wilds is great

IMO I only beat MH worlds after iceborne was already introduced so I have no perspective of on launch but worlds felt like there was more attention to detail and more random quests as dumb as they were like carry these eggs ect. IDK wilds just feels incomplete

Wild dont have Claw and that makes Wild 50% better!

Animations are superior. Textures on weapons and armor is much better in Wilds. Faces are leagues ahead in Wilds. Everything else is on par, and a lot of things are inferior. I feel like the crew in charge of MH is lost, and have no idea wtf they want they want to do with the IP after the success of World.

Devs like these see success, and instantly thinking of pleasing all the casuals, the tourists, etc. When real developer with a vision for their game, offer what they have always done, and it gets them extreme success. This is why we have Larian and Fromsoft, devs that understand for whom they are making their games, and not trying to please the ubisoft demographic. Because when the game is good, everyone will come, including casuals, and you don't need to add BS to your game (such as the campaign of Wilds that is more cinematic than a Sony exclusive) to attract tourists.

Having more than 3 monsters on a map at once is actually really underrated
Better hunting gameplay. It will get better. Again your comparing a finished world with master rank to a just launched wilds before any updates. Same thing has pretty been said everytime a new mh came out. People bashed rise at launch using worlds as comparison and now it’s pretty good. Worlds got bashed like crazy when it first came out and now look at it, it’s the main one everyone compares.
Did not enjoy that Wilds removed tracking the monster or looking for tracks, why remove something that has been monster hunter for so long? Gave us insight where the monster usually would be when facing them later. Then building the maps around sekriet do cause walking around a big hassle and pretty much force you to use it to move around. Yes the maps have details but when you have little reason to investigate the maps at the start of the round, it kind of make it pointless to bother with it if you just show the monster straight away.

The wound system is nice, but honestly I just made that button a toggle straight away and then hit away like normal while aiming my hammer with it which is a plus. Doesn't really feel engaging to use but I'm heavily rewarded for using it. Not to talk about how easy it is to keep it down when 3-4 players.

I know we are getting a main hub in april and current system they have is just bad. The material collecting people are based on time and not around the mission you beat. So you can do 15 mission and still only get 6 items from each vendor. Meanwhile you can fast forward the time through resting and get max amount of items in no time. Not fun.

The rooster for me was better in World. More memorable and honestly had better music too. Yes there where a lot of Elder dragons but that was awesome to fight them. They stood out.

Wilds just feel lacking,

I don't like the extent of which the game was streamlined compared to previous titles.
You know where the monsters are at all times without having to paint pod, positioning is pointless now that everyone has easy access to small decorations that completely nullify friendly fire knockback (outcoming & incoming) in addition to not having to commit to attacks (can just re-aim them via focus mode mid combo).

Some of the moveset changes I like, some are steps back. Power clashes are awesome. Offset attacks are awesome. The wound system is far too easy to do and exploit, they open up for attack too easily and you can force a stagger pretty much whenever you want; on some weapons like bow this doesnt even require any positioning at all.

Story sucks, aggressively; as in it forces you to interact with it again and stops you from doing what you want every step of the way until the credits roll.

Not going to even speak on the performance related stuff since it's been said a billion times.
Looking forward to future updates that add some more difficult content, as the current endgame of tempered you-know-who is pathetically easy; those updates may be a long ways off though.
If world was any indication, this will be an excellent game in 3-5 years.
