Lost Save Data?

I was playing with my friend, I get a connection error, I die because I couldn't move. Then I was forced to close the game because my screen went all black and i couldn't see. I re launch the game only to be forced to make a new character? Help

If the game tracks your save file, you might be able to find a backup in the folder depending. And thanks for the headsup, when I get it. I'll be sure to make a copy of my save...

If you cannot find a backup, you can try reinstalling or verifying the integrity of save file. And if that doesn't work, then you're out of options.

I wonder if its a Cap Com sided issue, i can see the save file in the folder but the game refuses to load it and gives me the error CSE-03400-AAA-AACJ. I cannot find anything about this error anywhere. I even went and downloaded the save off of the steam cloud and still It wont load.

I don't believe that the case. I made a new character on a whim and was able to connect just fine. but clearly all that i desire is to get back onto my main character... to lose 50 hours of progress is not fun

Just lost my save data today. Had to close my game because everything wasn't rendering properly. Once i've interacted with something, nothing pops out like the options to cancel or something or whatsoever. No interface or anything. And the npcs are like dark colored and the area's not fully rendered like it's just blocks or something. Restarted the game, crashed like more than 5 times and restarted my pc all the time. Then went back in asked me if i choose the local or steam cloud, i chose steam cloud because assuming all saved files goes there and then boom i just got asked my birthday and all and to create a new char again. Also have 50 hrs and I don't have everyday to play the game and it's frustrating to grind back at it again.

I was forced to make a new character when I downloaded some of the free dlcs. I have 45 hours on the game currently. I am uninstalling and reinstalling in hopes of retrieving my progress. Fingers crossed. This is a huge problem though.

No resolve to the issue for anyone right? I lost all of mine when I came back on vacation. I found what I believe to be my last save info on my pc but it will not let me use it as a save. I don't have as much time spent as some others here but it is still frustrating to lose all of my progress. Please let me know if there is a solution to this.

There is none for logical reasons.

If you found something you can try to salvage it. Nothing more. Nothing less.
