It is most like, well.... a Monster Hunter game. It is more of a staple ARPG than "like" another. It is an ARPG at its core though. Whereas WoW, NW, UO are MMoRPG and not the same genre as this game. Monster Hunter is its own "branch" of the ARPG genre and established itself 20 years ago for any looking to research the game. I would say it is more closely aligned to souls-like games but in a more tower based "Boss Rush". Meaning you work through levels or platforms of bosses to grow to reach the next platform/level to grow to reach the next etc.

It's a very rewarding game for ARPG players looking to challenge themselves.

I started considering Monster Hunter more like a Fighting game. In a fighting game your movements are deliberate, If you try to button mash it might work for a bit but eventually you'll face good opponents where you need to avoid attacking and go on the defensive until your opponent is open. Attacking, Defending and Countering after being attacked is the core of the game just like in a fighting game you need to wait for the correct time to combo and attack and of course you need to avoid super attacks that can do devastating damage. Monster Hunter is most similar to a fighting game.

This is Monster Hunter, it is most similar to other Monster Hunter games, even tho this is the least Monster Hunter tittle yet. Kind of like how Elden Ring is the least Souls game yet.

Well, the game is one of its own and not comparable to anything. I always found it cute when people compared the series to Dark Souls. Dark Souls came much later. The first MH was in 2004. DS in 2011. Even Demon's Souls was after the first MH.

Souls games, that were inspired by monster hunter huge popularity boom in Japan in the mid 2000s, so it has the most similarities like the hud, the animations and weapons (no Magic though).

Before that they had kings field but that played more like daggerfall.
