Did you try this thing I related?
1. If you have something like XMP or DOCP (is the same ♥♥♥♥) enabled on BIOS change it so the profile is disabled (this stuff is supposed to increase the perfomance of your RAM but for some people is the cause of crashes).
2. Disable XBox Game Bar entirely, overlays, etc. In Windows 11 you have to do something else that I forgot to disable everything of it (I have Win10).
3. The last thing is just openning config.ini file of the game and searching "resoltuion" and yes, you have to change that part for resolution (yeah I don't know how can they ♥♥♥♥ that up), check this after updates of the game because it went back to resoltuion today after the update (this one fixed crash after initiating second quest for a friend).
Thats the things worked for me, and here is the other things I tested withouth result in case it helps with your problem:
- Erase CrashReport.exe and CrashReportDll.dll.
- Disable Frame Generation and DLSS or FSR.
- Run as admin.
- Run in compatibility mode Windows 8 (this is so bad it destroys the texture on rocks and didn't even stop the crashes for me).
- Increase virtual memory of the system or disk which the game is installed (1.5x of ur RAM for minimum and 3x of ur RAM for maximum.
- Uninstall and reinstall the game.
- Update drivers (in case of AMD you have to search in the web the optional driver 25.2.1, NVIDIA have new drivers for the game too).
- Disable steam overlay or other overlays.
- If you have vanguard close it.
- Add Monster Hunter Wilds to antivirus and firewall.
- Undervolting GPU and also Overclock.
I tried more stuff but I don't think it does anything... Things I didn't try because the crashes stopped is:
- Updating BIOS.
- Updating to Windows 11.
- Last resource I was about to try in case nothing worked is checking event viewer of Windows check the warning of system before the crash or system problems which showed lack of privileges for some AppIDs and changing it on regedit (advanced stuff that could even break Windows, I don't really care because formatting and reinstalling Windows is 30min for me).
Hope some of this ♥♥♥♥ helps you as I struggled hours and hours till the game worked.
My specs:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
- RAM: 32 GB DDR4
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT
- SYSTEM: Windows 10
Installed MSI afterburner for monitoring and reducing clock speed for my 7900 XTX
(lost trust in AMD Adrenaline's tuning profile)
sweet spot seems to be:
core voltage: 1100 mV (slight UV)
core clock: 2000 MHz (whopping 500 MHz UC)
memory clock: 2714 MHz (equals 2700 OC for AMD logic, slight OC)
power limit: -10 (doesn't really matter, you could also take +15)
with these settings MH:Wilds ran without crash for 5 consecutive hunts.
- different biomes
- FG enabled
- hd textures
- vsync off
downside:
1440p with FG, settings high/ultra, RT off -- FPS ~130-140 (instead of 200+ before)
slight upside: card only takes ~200W now running 100% and stays below 70°
raising the core clock to 2100 immediately brought back the crashes with no other setting touched.
crashes were always with a hung_device/ driver timeout. if this is also the case for anyone else you might give it a try
So basically they dont have plans for fixing the flickering or the crash like it dont happen to users...
They better not say what they are going to fix since the wont fix the important thing.
Maybe we can force them to if we file enough support tickets
