Summary of fixes and bugs AMD graphics. (Crash, flickering and win8 compatibility mode)
Until now the MH Wilds PC community who have mid-low range AMD graphics cards, are working on solutions since AMD and CAPCOM do not have the courage to say anything about it. Those of us who have not asked for a refund have faith that Capcom or AMD will fix either the crash issue (AMD is responsible) or the texture flickering issue (Capcom is responsible).

Since Capcom is asking RX 7800 users to install a beta driver to not to crash.. I lost all my faith in Capcom (and more seeing what happened with Dragons Dogma 2 in terms of optimization and bugfix). After saying that all we can expect is to have an update that solves one of the 2 main problems in less than a month.

Below is all the information we have:

** MAIN PROBLEM **
AMD launched an optional update for Radeon™ RX 5X00 or superior, so if you have an older gpu you are lost as we and you will experience:

1º CRASH at start. If the shaders cache has to compile, it will do for like 3 minutes, then crash and has to start again.
2º If you start with compatibility mode it will compile but the rock and wood texture will be a random flickering mesh of textures (its funny because if you record the screen for a few seconds and pause on every second, you will see textures of carpets, chains, cloth, monsters. The not funny part is epileptic attacks exists).
3º Bargaining 4º Depression 5º Acceptance

DETAILS

The crash is done by un-handle command on amdxc64.dll (part of the amd driver), in fact the error code is C0000005 that seems to access a forbidden register at the memory.

The performance in low-medium is okay for my PC (RX580 2048SP 8GB vram, I5 4cores 3,2GHz, 16GB DDR3 Ram. I get 50fps in 1080) but this flickering make the title unplayable (by the headache you get)

The flickering stop as you are near the affected object. So I imagine this has to happen because of the render distance. In fact some properties in the graphics options are like disabled for me, like sand texture quality.

There are a lot of solution proposed, neither of them actually works. Below are described:
- Changing the dstorage.dll and dstoragecore.dll to the version 1.2.3 (this will make game to not start but in RTX4080 or superior it makes you get 10-20 more fps)
- Clear shaders cache in AMD Adrenaline and shaders cache in the game folder with compatibility mode win8 in steam.exe and MonsterHunterWilds.exe. Then remove the compatibility mode in both and start. Doesn't work.
- Fix the typos in the config.ini file. This doesn't work and the typo variables work at they are (If you do that as a programmer you're out in 100% of the jobs).
- Remove the crashReporter exe, dll and folder. Doesnt work and make the game close instead of crashing.
- Install linux in other partition and run the game there with the latest amd drivers for linux. Still Crash for graphic cards under RX 5000.
- Say to people to update graphics when the latest we can get (including betas is from 2024). Really your intentions are nice but we recieve that messages like 50 times per post.

These days were great for AMD for their market strategies and more, but in 3 years when no one buys AMD graphic cars they will ask, why people don't want amd graphic cards?

Good luck AMD users, all we can do is pray to ceadeus for an update.

My experience with the same card (RX580 2048SP 8GB) has been the same except on Linux.

For me on Linux the game launched and looked great, but the performance for some reason was terrible. I was getting 10 fps on 1080p FSR Ultra performance (no frame gen) in the oil camp.

Tried with latest mesa-git and saw some improvement in the menu but not in game.

Try expanding your pagination memory to 5GB or something more (no more than 10GB). This helped a lot of people

I tested old versions of the RX 580 and none of them solved the problem, Q4 PRO had a 10% FPS gain lol, anyway, let's keep trying guys! :1dthankyou:

Explication: pagination memory is an expansion of RAM using your hard disk.. this sounds great but disk velocity is bad compared to RAM velocity so it is only used in extreme cases. Your problem is that your pc is out of memory while playing
The issues with rocks are fixed when the character is close... could it be something related to the render distance?

It seems to but it coincides with the change of opacity in the mesh (when you start to see though it)

The optional AMD update worked for me.
I had the confused mesh flickering for rocks, wood, fabrics, etc for a few hours before I found this.

Additional info for others if it helps:
the AMD software Adrenalin Edition 25.2.1 optional update driver is what I specifically got to work for my system
My system:
AMD Ryzen 5 3600x processor
32 GB ram
AMD Radeon RX 6950 graphics card
game is on a Seagate SSD

I also had to initially run the game in windows 7 compatibility to get past the crash on launch, but after I installed the AMD update I toggled off the compatibility mode and it booted up fine.

I am happy for you! Good hunting
on linux its a lottery for me if it runs fine for several hours or crashes every 10 - 15 minutes. main culprit so far is the forest, though it happened a few time in the desert as well. i guess at this point and after trying several things I will just have to wait for capcom to make the game more stable and amd/mesa/proton to make updates and fixes. everything else feels like placebo to me

Try the pagination thing explained way up this thread
Have you guys tried 3rd party driver support? NimeZ and similar?

I used to run 3rd party NimeZ drivers on my wifes R9 390 due to support being Looooong Goooone on it.

I think NimeZ got replaced by another 3rd party setup, but they are out there.

edit - found the new ones;
