It's not unoptimized at all
Why are people with GPUs 2 generations old expecting to max out the settings? This is one of the first AAA titles of 2025 and imo one of the first videogames of the next generation. The visual detail is unlike anything I've ever seen before in any other videogame. It blows me away how good this game looks.

If you have anything less than a 4080, which is already a 3 year old GPU, you shouldn't be expecting to max this one out. And that's just par the course, if you want to turn up the settings on a AAA title you need a relatively recent GPU, nothing has changed.

i assume this is a bait but have you played wukong or cyberpunk 2077 for example? mh wilds looks like a ps4 game compared to those two titles and runs a lot worse.

lol whataboutism. We're talking about THIS game.
Glazing the graphics a bit hard imo. There are plenty of games out there that look WAY better than this one and run fine on 20 series cards maxed out on 1080p.

Yeah, I've played Wukong fully maxed out, it runs just fine and looks amazing, same with 2077. And saying MH Wilds looks like a PS4 game has to be one of the wildest lines I've ever read, please see an eye doctor.

4070 laptop and can't get steady 60fps on medium settings at 2k resolution. Medium textures look like ass and when the game is hitching between very uneven 45 and 60 fps with massive hitching, frame skipping, and sound popping it makes the experience pretty bad.

Even setting the resolution lower i can't get a smooth experience. This game has problems. Check the digital foundry review.

I strongly disagree. Name one of those titles. At max settings, I have not played any other game that looks nearly as good as this one. The lighting and color rendition is the most lifelike I've ever seen in a game and it's not even using raytracing.

Whomever told you that laptops are well suited for high end gaming, lied to you.

Sure, because people can afford to buy a 1500/2000$ GPU every new year. Really, you shouldnt need a 4080 minimum to even be able to play this somewhat stable. Its just trash, not optimized and screw up by capcom.

every 4 years is recommended, if you want to keep playing games on high settings and high resolution.

There have been many break downs, and testing done by people way more qualified then you, and its just a fact it looks and runs like crap. Its not even debatable. I have never seen worse forums in my life other then the old Gamespot forums

it is quite unoptimized. Frame drops have HUGE gaps, my 4080s will get 1% lows of 40 sometimes, which is quite jarring when you are in the middle of combat.
Its not unplayable, its just not good optimization.

That's literally how it works if you want to continue running the latest titles at high settings and smooth framerates. The 40 series came out 3 years ago now and those GPUs handle the game just fine. If you have a 30 series which is 5 years old, or an even older card, you should not be expecting to run this game well.
