Why does this game not have a botanist/farm?
Ever since the very first monster hunter iirc, this game franchise had a method of farming targeted materials between quests in your hub area. Why the hell did wilds get rid of that? Why is there no botanist? Finished the story, don't have him. Googled for it and it seems there is nothing to be unlocked. Do they really expect me to go out and farm all of the possible insects and plants in between quests? This is idiotic. The botanist is the only reason people used varied loadouts of items. The only thing this will do is make people use nothing but basic potions for the most part as they won't wanna waste any ingredients ever now. This is a terrible change and feels so out of place with this game obviously trying to be more beginner friendly with how the whole main story wrapped up in low rank and the city destroying monster threat being a pretty tiny dude lmao.
So yeah, I just wanna raise this complaint in hopes that others agree and Capcom sees this, so that they hopefully add a botanist in a future patch. This is terrible.

EDIT:
To all the replies, I should have specified that I am aware of that system but that system is MASSIVELY gimped compared to any previous game I played. I started in MH tri for reference. The fact that the farm does not progress per quest but per in game day is just terrible. It means you cannot effectively farm by efficiently hunting, thus basically taking away your reward for being more skilled, which just feels awful imo.
And the fact that the farming just becomes more and less effective randomly with the 0-3 star system is another fact that is just out of the players hand.
Basically the most effective way to farm materials now is NOT to actually play the game, but to spam the rest feature in your tent for your research points to skip time...
Noone can convince me it is a good design decision when NOT PLAYING THE GAME has become the MOST EFFICIENT FARMING METHOD.
That is just idiotic.
AT THE VERY LEAST capcom needs to change it back to progress based on quests, not based on in game time.

It's in the game. Npcs will collect items for you. Nata will let you pick up the items and choose what you want em to collect. Things like honey, insects etc. I think you need to do some side quests to unlock it.
It does, but only in high rank hunts after the story. Beat the post game and you can utilize a single NPC to get everything from every region.
It's Post-game unlock in Wilds. The main quest for this game is much shorter than World, you only need to reach HR 50 at the moment.
It does have one but it sucks, honestly. World/Iceborne did it great but I guess it was way "too generous".
Get to high rank. Farm is unlocked through the 'village gathering' mechanic which I believe is unlocked by completing the first optional quest in each village; once they're available, Nata will let you access the farm at base camp through him.

This game does have it's "farm" system.
It's far worst than World version tho and not as interesting like an actualy farm like MHFU too.
Now they dont farm they collect x) NPC's will do the job for u as u do side quests to unlock the "farming" npc's. Well its wilds so they dont bother enriching the camps. pretty sad seeing little details beeing changed... i agree with Chaos, worlds was ok but we are just losing good details over the years. i also miss the master chef... they just keep taking away what should be part of a MH game -_-
