MH Wilds Crashing my PC
I'm absolutely loving this game so far... when I can play it. However, it's completely crashing my PC to blackscreen and full restart. I've literally just upgraded my whole setup too, and no other game has caused such issues. GF has the same set-up as me and has no problems, but I'm lucky to get through a hunt without it freezing and resetting my PC.

I think I'm gonna put it down for a bit until they optimise the game, because right now it is, and I hate to use this phrase, literally unplayable as-is.

+++++++++++SOLVED+++++++++++

I solved this by going to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Edit Plan Settings (on whichever one you want to use) > Change advanced power settings > Processor power management > change Min and Max processor state to 99%

Since doing this, I've had no crashes at all and no stuttering either. It seems like it was absolutely a CPU issue, so until they fix it on their side this is a workaround that's let me play the game consistently.

In the event viewer the exception code is always
0xc000005
Have you tried validating game files? That error code has a wide range of causes

Wilds is also crashing pc for me. Just built it with an i5-14600k RX6900XT OC and a 1000w psu. Fully freezes my pc into a black screen.

Did you try downloading AMDs optional gpu driver? 25.2.1? Should be able to find it on their site. Heard that works.

Could it be that it has something to do with smart acees memory by amd?

No idea to be honest. I'm not super familiar with AMD

No idea, but for reference, I have a 6750 XT and a 5700X3D. In my case SAM is turned off since I had stutters in Forza Horizon 5 that made me go insane with SAM enabled lol (even though raw fps was higher).

Another thing (maybe) worth mentioning, I used to have very aggressive memory clocks/timings, but had to tone it down since another specific game used to crash with those settings.

Wishing you luck! (and wishing my game won't suddenly start crashing as well lol)

I was also getting lots of restarts. First the sound was turning off for around 10 seconds, then my pc froze for like 3 seconds and then it restarted. I've been getting those restarts since november and only while playing a minority of games. Most games were working fine.

After doing lots of things (Updated chipset driver, sound driver, BIOS Update ect.), I thought it would be a good idea looking over my RAM settings and I realized that my RAM ran on only 4800mhz. I changed the BIOS settings and activated the EXPO 1 profile. My RAM now runs at 5600mhz and I was able to play MH Wilds for 3 hours straight. Before that I couldn't even complete one hunt since saturday evening (before that I didn't have any problems).

I'm mildly positive for now, but I need to test this some more, but maybe this solution could help others.

I am also running into the same issues.

MHW has hard crashed my PC probably 20 times at this point.
It seems to happen before event viewer captures anything useful. Application crashes then unexpected shutdown.

4090, 64GB RAM, 7800X 3D

No, Capcom, the issues won't be fixed by driver updates.
I have updated all drivers, BIOS, OS, everything. Across multiple versions of all of these, the problems persist.

Going to try rolling back my NVIDIA driver like some have reported success with, but I've never had a game perform so terribly and try to nuke my computer harder than MHW.

I've gone through the whole troubleshooting list and it also hard crashes my PC. It doesn't have any performance issues whatsoever and then suddenly will just freeze for a split second before the PC reboots. The Event Viewer doesn't document anything related to the crash aside from the unexpected shutdown. The PC handles all other games very well and has only ever fully crashed with Monster Hunter Wilds.

Same issue here, goes to black screen then pc reboots on its own, sometimes i can play hours and nothing happens, sometimes i have the game open for 20 minutes and it crashes. Temps are good, power consumption is good, drivers up to date ( both 24.12.1 and 25.2.1 have the issue)
Ryzen 7 7700X
Sapphire RX 7800XT
32GB of RAM

Same here, and somthing I see between us is everyone is using AMD card and processor and has lots of ram. I have like triple the recommended spec for the game and still crash every 20 min or so. I tried everthing you said too... What a shame.

I use a 4060ti and it black screen and computer need to be reset.. only starting today when I reached uth duna. Thought it was all the rain so I turned my settings down, updated my graphics driver and finished the hunt. Now I can't even play 10 minutes...
