Bought the oni wig to use on my character, but doesn't show up in-game

restarted the game & steam assuming that would fix it, but still don't see it in the edit hunter menu

It is a layered armor not a hair style. You should find it in the equipment appearance menu.

this is also the case for the eyepatch styles, layered clothing, and (i believe) the wyverian ears from the various other DLC or Deluxe/Premium editions, it's all layered armor you have to equip in your tent at the very last tab for equipment appearance. just keep in mind, you can only have one at a time, so either you have the oni horns or the eyepatch or the wyverian ears (which kinda sucks in all honesty, wish you could have multiple equipped).

Did you claim it from the palico that gives limited bounties and the dlc you're entitled to.

If the game runs well for you the wig is fine, but if it doesn't the wig is so complex(lots of individual strands) that it causes performance issues.
