So Wilds is a 6/10?
Everyone says the gameplay is dope, but apparently they force you into a fixed story mode, with a bad story that feels like a railshooter. The performance is atrocious and the monster roster is at an all time low. The difficulty seems to be too easy and there really is no innovative overhaul like some previous titles offered.

Yea sounds about right.

Probably more a 5/10
Performance is hit or miss depending on settings and hardware. The story is not great and the on rails things makes sense considering you're still a controlled member of the guild. Alma is more of your boss than a handler imo. Combat is awesome though, especially lance, just feels good in this game.

What would I score it? 8/10

Room for improvement, but enjoying my time with it.

Possibly lower.
I hate all the hazy brown crap at the start. Crapcom should know better: The start is what makes or breaks a game... and they start us in a Desert with janky post-apocalyptic haze everywhere. Even the Forest when you first get there looks like washed out grey rather than green.
After the character creation screen the next time you actually get to see proper colour is after you've beaten the aquatic blob-monster and eyed the flagship for the first time, several hours into the game... at which point the Forest actually becomes green. Up until that point everything is just shades of brown and grey.

And yeah... the story is crap, the NPCs are annoying, the worldbuilding is utter nonsense, the railroading is the worst I've encountered in any game (including ones on actual rails).

So... maybe 4/10?

Sadly those are all true statements.

I cant get past the menu with a 4070ti, 32gb ram and 5700x3d. People are not stupid and know when they have a potato pc. The problem is Capcom who release a game in a worst state than dragons dogma 2 one year after

they took that time to not fix their engine and release a blog saying you should run as admin.
but we are the unreasonable ones, we are entitled for wanting a game to run.
capscom is just and indue dev making game in a garage after all, they dont have the resources to... fix their own engine.

what was wrong in my take?

Is the gameplay bad? Or do you really enjoy the story?

I thought we rated games as a whole? If you add a story into a video game and it is about as engaging as eating rice with ketchup, i feel like it should factor in the overall score no?
Specially if you can not skip either the rice or the ketchup.

So what is it?

Best monster hunter game released to date
Wild Mar 2 @ 10:05am
If performance issues disappeared and game got 5x more sharper visuals, then it would be way higher than that, 8/10 at least.

no one plays monster hunter for the story lol

People dont play MH for the story; its a glorified tutorial to get you familiar with how the game plays and monsters fight. Its the teachers guidance portion of the game. Barring the horrendous optimization on PC side of things (I get it, a lot of variables to consider) The gameplay feels fantastic and pretty smooth.
