Ok, real talk... Story and some mechanics there are not my favorites either.
But damn, skip it and while beein forced into the saddle grab your hook/net and get some loot and time flies by like nothing ^^
Thats the spirit xD
The game is not open world not real and not technically.
It's open area like every MH before and i don't see any possible performanceimprovement coming from here.
Monster Hunter has soul to it ... even if the story isn't fantastic... it's better than "Hunt this!" ..... "Now hunt THIS!" ...."AND NOW THIS!" ... It'd get boring if there wasn't a Reason...
I don't normally mind watching cutscenes and am rather patient when it comes to them but that aforementioned scene of the Handler and whats her face made me wish they were skippable. When I saw what they were trying to do I rolled my eyes so hard I saw my brain.
I went back to play MHGU recently and its so refreshing to just go on a hunt and not have your hand held the entire time or be interrupted by characters yapping in your ear.
For me, I've been invested in this franchise for over a decade. For player's like me we got returning characters, regions that were mentioned in past titles but never expanded on, and tons of new environmental lore to pick up. We literally learn so much about the Wyverians in this game it made my head spin, they straight up revealed stuff we old fans thought could never possibly be canon. This is a MH fans MH game and new players are gonna find the story very hit or miss.
aye couldn't have put it better myself. it really helps to have played them from the start (ps2 release of monster hunter)
At least in Rise there's base defence mechanics but there's no real sense of threat there.
