Forced Slinger Ammo Hotbar
Does anyone know how to disable that annoying feature where slinger ammo options consumes my entire hotbar and prevents me from accessing any of my consumables. Ive turned off auto loading but that doesnt seem to fix this issue.

It really annoying to accidentally scroll over the capture net and suddenly not have access to my healing potions in the middle of a fight because it for some reason wants to prioritise my slinger over my life.

I believe it's possible to turn off most all of the items when you edit your item pouch! There's a little like. bag icon next to them and if it's red and X'd out then it shouldn't show up, I think.
(I don't know if this is what you mean but it's the first thing I thought of.)
You need to unequip the capture net after use. You also need to be out of focus mode, I believe. I would also recommend setting up your item pouch and custom radial menu loadouts instead of using the item bar, especially if you're using mouse and keyboard.

You can disable the capture net in the tent, then just save a loadout with it disabled and there ya go

I feel like people are missing the point ngl, the entire point isn't the capture net, its the fact that all the healing supplies disappear on the hotbar, and there is instead only slinger items (ammo, net, etc) I'm also looking for how to disable this, as it is ridiculously annoying.

I know how to disable the net. both before the hunt and mid hunt. I have radial menus and item pouches set up already. I know the drill there. but sometimes its easier to scroll twice instead of pressing a function key and a number key. and in those cases, I cant have all my healing items disappear from my hotbar because a slinger item was in the way of my potion.
I've never had this problem but I'll have a poke around in the options menu and try to replicate it so I can tell you how to undo it.

EDIT: Having had a look around, I've been unable to replicate this issue. Could people with the issue share some screenshots and their item bar settings?

I'm having the same problem. This specifically happens when the weapon is sheathed and you are also in focus/aiming mode. You can get around it by just unaiming but it does reset your bar position annoyingly. Not sure if it is disable-able but really hope someone else can help find a solution.

I've had this issue at least two dozen times while hunting. It's even gotten me killed by poison before because the game apparently thinks choosing between my flash and dung pods is more important than being able to eat an herbal medicine to not die. No clue what exactly causes it. It'll just happen sometimes mid hunt.
If you could get a screenshot that would be great.
It is easily replicated by having your weapon sheathed, being in focus mode, and then trying to scroll through the quick menu in the bottom right.

OK, with this info I've been able to figure it out and I've also worked out why I couldn't replicate it. When you're sheathed and in focus mode, using the dpad to scroll your bar instead flicks your cursor to the next slingable point of interest. You can actually see a little menu pop up on the left where your scoutfly information appears letting you pick which one to flick to by using up/down and then jumping to it with left/right, or you can tap left/right to flick through the menu.

So this issue isn't being caused by slinger ammo, but it may be being caused by using focus toggle and forgetting to untoggle when trying to heal, as your bar will not scroll with the typical inputs in this case. I can't find an option to disable this behavior, unfortunately.

Its because you're in focus mode so you just need to let go of the focus button and you should be all good

I've tried that, I've still had it happen outside of focus mode.

Are you sure about that? While you're holding L2 to aim the slinger at all you won't be able to scroll the item bar.

Perhaps it's different with a controller, but on M+K if you are manually aiming the slinger you can still scroll through the item bar; however, the item bar will only show slinger ammo and the net. The problem is if you do this say on accident, then when you stop aiming the slinger the item bar will auto scroll to whatever you had accidentally scrolled to.

For example say you keep Ghillie Mantle highlighted on your item bar by default. You also have Dung Pods far away on the item bar because you don't use Dung Pods through the item bar. You are aiming, accidental scroll once, and it highlights Dung Pods because the item bar truncated to only show only slinger related items. Then, when you stop aiming you would assume it would revert back to having Ghillie Mantle highlighted, but no, it auto scrolls all the way to where Dung Pods are at. Now you are way out of place on the item bar and probably won't realize it until you go to use Ghillie Mantle and instead equip Dung Pods. Even if you realize as soon as you scrolled, and try to scroll back to the mantle, you can't because it only shows slinger related items now. So no matter what your item bar is going to be off.

It's annoying as hell and messes me up all the time.

Ah, okay, so it's actually the game working as intended on kbm at least - bad design rather than a bug.
