Arachnophobia Mode
Right then, I have arachnophobia. I was pleased when the first gross boss had me laughing hysterically while playing with my boyfriend. We just got to Nerscylla. She is NOT arachnophobia-friendly... AT ALL. I'm actually typing this after having to calm down. Please tell me this is a bug(Ha) and that it's going to be fixed as soon as possible. PLEASE tell me it's just a really really REALLY upsetting "Oopsie" on the devs end of things and that she's not deliberately left unaltered even in safe-mode.

the archachnophobia mode does warn that it doesn't apply to large monsters, and it isn't really feasible to change the models of large monsters of who you need to know the hit boxes/attack animations of to do anything with.
Sadly it's on purpose. To change Nerscylla would be to change its entire skeleton and model, unlike the other monsters that ARE changed by the mode toggle.

If its an consolation, you only are required to fight Nerscylla ONE other time in High Rank and that's it.

Strangely nothing trigger my arachnophobia in this game.
I don't know if it's the fact that they only have 4 legs or that they look more like bugs than real spiders
But yeah, the spider boss won't change.
It has 4 legs.
Calm her Arachnophobia by telling her to look up an Ogre Spider. Trust.

Not sure what boss you thought it worked on, cause as the arachnophobia setting clearly states in game, it only applies to small monsters and endemic life. Not any of the two large arachnid-like monsters. Which makes it kind of pointless imho.
I would already feel helped out if they'd make a few legs just... outlined like how we are when we are behind or in something.

ETA: "ballerina" spider is totally fine, it's the other one that gives me the gags

W-why is there jesters on this post about arachnophobia, it seems totally innocuous.

Anyway, it is unfortunate. It would be nice if it got changed, maybe by not even really making a good new model, but by just showing the player blob hitboxes or something.

In fact, Nerscylla is a giant lobster, and not a spooder. Happy hunting.

Digital spiders aren't real you'll be fine
If you look up the game Grounded, there's an arachnophobia mode in that and maybe they could do something similar? At max settings it just makes it some group of orbs. lol

Since large monsters aren't affected by the in-game setting you might have to use this mod[www.nexusmods.com], it might make them harder to hunt since I don't know how well it'll telegraph the moves but should help you with your condition.
