you can try just using the net, thats usually what i am doing.

It doesn't work for the quest the fishing npc gives.
ah, too bad. i still have any fishing related quests on hold, if the net doesn't work i'm sorry for wasting your time.

What's wrong with fishing? I'm on keyboard and seems fine. It's actually one of the few places the controls made sense (if you ignore that it tells you W as a lure control which physically is not possible for a lure)

To clarify, while this will work in most situations, not all zones allow you to aim your slinger, which is a prerequisite for using the capture net. In that instance you're forced to actually use the fishing rod. (It could also be that the fish is too far away.)

f the controls. fish just dont bite no matter what im doing.
nothing happens since 15 minutes lol

Don't know what to say. I've always gotten all the ones I tried to bite. Even the Platinum and Golden fish which I assume are rare or "hard" considering they gave me 100 points each, but I don't know. Are there different lures? Are you not using the correct one for whatever you're trying catch?

u need to learn how to reel, open the guide and read carefully

the answers was press w and s key back to back, if xbox controller spam up and down on left joystick/thumbstick

What I mean is that there's nothing anyone can help you with on that quest. We don't know what you're doing wrong. It all depends on the fish in the water. Some like no movement. Some like left and right movement, some like the little dash as you reel in. It's all RNG and based on your input.
Xbox controller here: Species of Bowfin react well to the Slow Reel using the Emerald lure, which is a slow up/down motion on the directional analog stick (where your left thumb typically resides) after you've cast your line. I got a lot of the green Bowfin to respond very well to that motion. "Slow" is the slow up/down, "Quick" is a fast up/down on the directional joystick. The Gravid Bowfin will not respond to the lure sitting idly; I've attempted to catch one for over an hour using that method and they fled every time, meaning their behavior is primarily focused on a Slow/Quick Reel motion. Sushifish and Goldenfish will respond with idle lures, but I recommend Slow Reeling. Moving the joystick too slowly causes the lure to 'bob' and will likely scare the fish, so make sure you're turning it fast enough to get a consistent reel.

Hope this helps; mark it as the answer if this aids you!

(Honestly I would have designed the controls a bit differently for controller; a circular round motion, slow and fast, would have sufficed nicely for reeling.)

If you need to Reel slowly on PC you just tap W and S repeated one at at a time and you will reel slow

Press W or S quickly or slowly and you will either rewind quickly or slowly :) I found the answer here and it helped me. I also play on PС.
